All I ever wanted to know about the company I learned from my father. Back in the mid 1970s GEICO decided that they couldn’t make any money in North and South Carolina so they pulled out. Back in those days insurance companies could cancel a client’s policy with no notice. But the worst part was that switching insurance carriers was nearly impossible to do back then. Several military members were left high and dry. They eventually got it worked out but the change still hit many in the pocketbook. BTW GEICO stands for Government Employees Insurance Company.
Nationwide cancelled 5 auto policies for my family and our homeowner’s insurance because I tapped someone in the rear and they sued (despite the police chief seeing the accident and told me that there was no way the people could have been injured and there was no damage to either bumper). The people sued me, Nationwide settled then dropped me.
Nationwide, they’re NOT on your side.
