(CNN)Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis has raised more than $100 million for his 2022 reelection bid, a stunning sum that speaks as much to his national ambitions as it does to his prospects in the Sunshine State.
DeSantis is widely regarded as the biggest star not named "Donald Trump" within the Republican Party. He regularly runs second to Trump in 2024 straw polls and often wins them outright when Trump is not included.
And unlike many other Republicans mentioned as possible 2024 candidates, DeSantis has not said he would get out of the race to make way for Trump.
Which, of course, Trump has taken notice of.

But make no mistake: DeSantis and his allies very much meant to send a message with his fundraising totals. (According to CNN, he appears to be the first governor to break the $100 million mark in fundraising solely through donations.)

He’s done a great job and is extremely popular, so it’s not surprising that he can rake it in. Other GOP elected officials should take notice, act like a conservative and get support
I think everything hinges on the outcome of DeSantis’ re-election campaign. If he wins easily, it’s going to be very hard to not support him in 2024, he’ll be bullet-proof.
And he’s got one big advantage over Trump, he’s got a team of people working for him in Florida that we can bring to Washington.
Can Trump do that? Based on his first term, I think that’s simply something he cannot do.

MSM always encourages Republicans to run. The second they officially announce, they turn savage. Trump got very good press until he came down the escalator. I’m surprised some here aren’t smart enough pick up on this.

So I am thinking he stays in FL. For another term. Are these 2 year terms. If so then I think they have term limits so he can’t run again for FL. in 2024 which could mean a Trump/DeSantis ticket.
He’ll also bring along a supply of competent, seasoned, and (hopefully) loyal advisors and agents (unlike Trump) who would implement his agenda, instead of confounding it.
I’m leaning Trump because of what he weathered in his first term.
I don’t think many political persons had anywhere near that level of assault he was dished out in swamp land.
Maybe Trump is too old. The whole stolen election still pisses me off.

Nobody really knows anything about his team in FL and the “adminstrative state” in Washington (aka the Swamp) doesn’t change with a new Prez. Based on Trump’s first term he was the best we have had, right up there with Abraham Lincoln and George Washington - says Mark Levin.
To use the analogy, Trump is the first mouse, DeSantis is the second mouse that gets the cheese.
Trump not being a politician was both his strength and his weakness.
A lot of us want to see someone younger than 78 as president, without the megatonnage of baggage. (Operation Warp Speed for instance.)
Not to mention that he would not be bringing Ivanka and Jerred with him, along with the horrible inability to select cabinet members and appointees.
Take a good look at his endorsement history to see nothing has changed.

Big advantage #2: He’s not reckless in his communications even though he speaks forthrightly.
Of course, if Trump weren’t full of braggadocio and severe criticisms of weaklings and the MSM in his communications, he wouldn’t be Trump. I think that strong fight Trump has makes it possible for people like DeSantis to run and win.
Trump continued to get pretty good press until it was clear he would be the nominee.
And he’s got one big advantage over Trump, he’s got a team of people working for him in Florida that we can bring to Washington.
I will agree Trump changed the game for the better, if for nothing else illuminating for many just how things are in DC.
But he didn’t put together a very good, cohesive team.
Based on what I’ve seen from DeSantis so far, he seems to have done pretty well. And I generally prefer Governors to run for POTUS (Romney notwithstanding, but then again he was governor of a deep blue state)
And even die hard Republican Never Trumpers, will find it difficult to oppose DeSantis. Hogan looks ridiculous opposing DeSantis.
I like this DeSantis guy.
