You do realize that the model T and A both were designed and ran on ethanol right. This was before close loop O2 ECU control and direct gas injection with turbos. Brazil fuels their cars with E100 as in pure ethanol they run just fine. They even use HE95 as in hydrous ethanol with 5% water in it as a state certified fuel. Here again they run cars in the tropics with those fuels just fine Reed vapor pressure is none issue as long as you have a positive sealing fuel cap. NASCAR uses ethanol as their official fuel as does F1 having switched from methanol before. Ethanol is not near as toxic in a spill or crash as methanol. Most if not all cars with a turbo newer than 2001 will benefit from the high octane of ethanol it’s 116/123 in pure form plus it’s huge latent heat capacity which with direct injection and boost cools the charge just like alcohol injection did during WWII for 1500 hp plus fighter engines under boost at take off. People add alcohol injection systems to boosted sports car for this very reason as an aftermarket upgrade it can add 100+ hp to an engine before knock sets in. It’s irrational behavior to not see the benefits to some alcohol in fuel the science is solid on it plus the decrease on pollution due to the OH radical in the molecule that adds oxygen to keep particulates, carbon monoxide levels low. All the “issues” with ethanol were solved decades ago only boomers clinging to old ideas and hear say see a goblin in ethanol. Modern engines burn it with ease and for most it benefits them. Small engines with carburetor with 1900s level of technology and cork floats and seals because the Chinese parts maker wanted to save a few penny’s is in no way representative of what a modern as in less than 10 year old engine is made to run on.

User manual on my sonata recommends staying away from E10, let alone E15, thanks for info.

Don’t put gas from a yellow or blue hose problem solved. Yellow is by law E85, blue is E15 those are the only approved means of dispensing any ethanol blend above 10% so avoid those two colors and this whole thing is a nothing burger.

Some good points, but you’re conflating E15 with E85. The latter can only be burned in Flex fuel vehicles, while the former can be burned in 2001 and newer vehicles (but no ethanol should be used in small engines such as generators, etc). Also, in many places, E10 will probably not be available, replaced by E15, due to state mandates.

Ethanol is just filler. It doesn't have the energy that gasoline has so your mileage goes down, so it's really a net loss.

Kinda like going to the Golden Corral and filling up on the cheap white bread the nice lady makes sure you have plenty of.

On second thought, Joe ought to be impeached even if the Senate won't come up with 67 votes to remove him from office. Everything he touches turns to hsit, and he's not even a legitimate President in the first place. The war in Ukraine would not be happening except for his dereliction.

Impeach his butt and then anyone who doesn't support removing him from office gets to live with the consequences.

Hey, just buy an EV. Problem solved! Am I right?

Well no, but you already knew that!

EVs are considerably more expensive than comparable gas vehicles, but there is always that $7,500 federal tax credit to blunt the pain. The problem there is that those lower income people who pay no income tax get zero tax relief on an EV purchase. They have no incentive to go electric.

If, for example, someone pays $1,000 in tax, that is wiped out in the year the vehicle is purchased, but there are no refunds on the remaining $6,500 portion of the tax credit and that $6,500 can't be carried forward to future years.

The people lowest on the income ladder will get screwed the most by any EV mandates given the tax credit system as it exists today. And the ever generous US taxpayers have the honor of funding the tax credits for others, many of whom have no problem affording expensive EVs.

The good news is that Tesla no longer eligible for federal tax credits, so at lease we taxpayers no longer have to give bonus cash to people buying $100K+ Teslas.

Millions of Owners cannot afford new vehicles now, And with price of fuel, even with the supposed cut in price, the owners will have to use that fuel just to help pay for groceries to eat. And of course they will incur damage to their older vehicles then.

Thanks for nothing Joe.

Our pumps have black and green

Black is gas with three choices.

Green is diesel but usually available at the end most pumps

"Ethanol" corn, whatever variety is might be called, might not be corn for human consumption but every acre planted with it is another lost acre of land that could be used for food crops.

Also one suspects that the hogs in the hog farms and the steers in the feedlots would eat "Ethanol" corn without complaint.

The part of Virginia that I live in is an EPA non-attainment area. Gasoline is required to be oxygenated. They used to use MTBE as the oxygenate, until the oil companies stopped using MTBE due to liability.

They started using ethanol as the oxygenate.

The amount of ignorance about E10 was astonishing. People were claiming it would destroy your engine...despite it having been sold in some parts of the USA since at least the early 80s, and automakers issuing TSBs dating back to the 80s saying that their vehicles are DESIGNED for E10.

I use E10 in my riding mower. I don’t drain the fuel in the fall, I just park it inside my garage (so it doesn’t get rained on, so water can’t get into the fuel system) and there’s no problem starting it in the spring.

GM issue a TSB in 1985 saying that their vehicles were designed for E10 gas.

What’s Hyundai’s problem?

Imt well aware of the.difference from.E85 to E15 I pointed out that BOTH by law must have separate pump nozzles. One is yellow the other is blue. The EPA says every car newer than 2001 is legally able to burn E15 only flex fuel can burn E85. I have had two vehicles that were flex fuel and not labeled as such but the VIN showed they were manufactured in a run with flex fuel parts either was fully capable of running E85,E15 or E10. My S60 turbo loves the extra octane of ethanol if E85 was not more expensive than 91 I would be running that this is not a daily driver it’s for high speed road trips at 100+ mph I also had an F150 that was flex fuel from the factory but was not labeled as such again the VIN code showed that was the case if.You looked in the fuel line you could see the ethanol.sensor from under the chassis proving it was a flex fuel OEM. point is modern engines can burn E10 which since the 2000s has been a federal government requirement nation wide this means every car made since 2000 has the fuel lines and correct rubber types to handle ethanol. The difference from 10 to 15% is so small testing showed no significant difference in material compatibility to Between E10 & E15 this is why fedgov approved it for cars which already by law must be E10 ready. Too many people don’t bother to one read the actual.text of the EO or law and two don’t know the requirements for dispensing a limited use fuel.

A corn crop which uses untold amounts of fossil fuels to produce. At best, you get out 1.1 gallons for every gallon you put in. Lots of studies show you get out 0.9 gallons for every gallon you put in.

The sheer idiocy of Biden & Co. is breathtaking to behold.

“E15 voids the warranty on small engines.”

...and with seasonal use engines like a snowblower the ethanol basically rots in the fuel lines during the summer unless treated or drained.

I always look for “off road” or “racing fuel” with a high octane and no ethanol for my small engines.

They have to do that with ethanol anyway.

Or they did (been a bit since I played in that field) because in the winter time they send a lot of the light cuts into the fuel.

“This will destroy and or severely damage engines...“

That’s just not true. Unless you are driving 1965 Chevy that has the original parts.
