President Biden announced his latest supposed silver bullet to deal with inflated gas prices that reached their all-time high last month β more ethanol than usually allowed in American gas β during a speech on Tuesday evening in Iowa.
As usual, Biden's announcement was more about avoiding blame that explaining what his plan would do...because it won't do much.
Biden's decision to use executive authority to have the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) waive normal rules to allow grain-based ethanol mixtures of up to 15 percent in American gas supplies is, according to the White House, more action aimed at lowering gas prices Biden claims have skyrocketed due to Putin's invasion and greedy oil and gas CEOs. But there are more than a few problems with Biden's new plan.
First, the EPA typically restricts ethanol-rich fuel during the approaching summer months due to the increased pollution and smog its use causes. The U.S. Energy Information Administration notes that ethanol-gasoline mixtures "have higher evaporative emissions from fuel tanks and dispensing equipment" that "contribute to the formation of harmful, ground-level ozone and smog." So, Biden is ordering the EPA to abandon its mission to "to ensure that Americans have clean air" while cutting into America's food supply despite warnings of upcoming shortages.

#4. The MPG drops in relation to the amount of E in the gas. 10% ethanol gives you 10% less mileage, I would bet that E15 drops it by oh, another 5%... Buying more ‘gas’ to do the same ‘job’ won’t reduce oil consumption.
Guess who owns all that farmland getting subsidies.... Bill Gates and the CCP... follow the money...always follow the money.
Interesting! I just searched for pure gasoline stations and found this link:
Of course, where I am in Massachusetts there are no pure gasoline stations listed though there are garden centers and racing shops. I haven’t been to a racing shop but garden centers are even more expensive than the megalomart hardware stores.
Sarcasm on your part - reality for the morons. Highly educated PhD from the coastal elite have literally no conception where their electric power comes from. They just take it for granted that it comes from that little square thing on the wall with the funny plug sockets. Like magic. Totally serious on this. Try to reason with them when it comes to their desire for shutting down nuclear and fossil fuel power plants is futile. Same with tearing down dams that are their sole source of fresh water. Liberalism truly is a mental disorder for many.
Milk prices are skyrocketing so I expect Biden will step I. To “solve it” by requiring farmers to dilute the milk with water- pretty soon it will be nothing but white water.
This.π
And the notice-and-comment regulation that the Trump EPA promulgated to effectuate this change was struck down by the D.C. Circuit as contrary to the plain language of the Clean Air Act (specifically, CAA sec. 211(h)) in July 2021.
Biden's bullsh*t "waiver" is equally unlawful. Got a problem with that, take it up with Congress. The Clean Air Act is crystal clear on the matter, as the court found. The statutory restriction cannot be changed or "waived" merely by executive action. Biden's EPA knows this, as did Trump's EPA in its time. But orders are handed down -- motivated by purely political considerations, the law be damned -- everybody salutes, and there you are.
I like your post. I’m smarter for having read it. Thanks!
Yup. Do they in fact not understand that nearly EVERYTHING is in some way associated with “fossil fuels” and petroleum by-products. Or is it denial carried to the extreme.
Lol! Many years ago(1970), when in the Navy, with two kids in the house we would buy powdered milk and make a gallon of fresh into two gallons of milk. Our rental house near Mayport was a steep $75.00/mth. And the car note on the ‘69 Road Runner was $72.00/mth. ππ. Good times.
It takes about 1.1 BTU to produce 1.0 BTU of ethanol. It’s a HUGE waste of energy and money.
It takes arable land out of production to grow poor quality corn to make ethanol, land that otherwise could be used to grow wheat to offset the loss of Ukraine wheat.
It’s an absolutely idiotic policy...just what you would expect from Brandon & Co.
I have a real problem when the source of motor fuel is in direct competition with the source of bourbon.
And that fact is nothing new to a lot of folks. Others, head in the clouds looking for rainbow colored unicorns.
Oh man I hated powdered milk, but not as much as goat’s milk. The worst was mixing powdered into, the goat’s milk.
I see your problem. My condolences, FRiend.
LOL!
Thanks!
I had just gotten out of the Army and minimum wage was $1.60. Rent for a 1 bedroom apartment with a new baby was $65. After taxes cleared about $55 a week. Nowdays takes 2 weeks wages for rent.
Wages? Sad to say, no wages anymore. Thus, no raises. Should have thought about that before we retired and asked for a COLA clause/rider in the retirement package. DOH!
