Why George H.W. Bush’s Single Term Should Worry Joe Biden
Time ^ | 04/13/2022 | Philip Elliott

Posted on 04/13/2022 5:21:35 PM PDT by ChicagoConservative27

The President was riding high. The American public had rallied behind him to support direct military intervention for a country invaded by its neighbor, to back the still-nascent democracy in Eastern Europe, and to cool tensions with a Cold War rival.

These days, President Joe Biden must be mighty jealous of President George H.W. Bush.

No comparison. 1991 Bush had a 89% approval rating. Biden's not in office two years.

Bush 41 had read my lips and Ross Perot. Biden is just a diaper brain moron.

Then-President Bush was having a moment in April of his second year in office—exactly where Biden sits today. The end of the Cold War reset the global order. The public made Bush a rockstar as U.S. forces stepped in to help push Saddam Hussein back across the border into Iraq from Kuwait, American dollars were flowing to help Poland’s pro-democracy movements, and the once-branded Evil Empire grounded in Moscow seemed to have collapsed. The Berlin Wall was down and Bush’s poll numbers were up, parked in the mid-70s.

then the media contrived a false “bad economy” story to tank him.

Bush ‘41 was there when the Soviet nuclear weapons were disarmed. What would have happened if Dukakis had won? Was the American voter aware of the stakes? They weren’t in 2020.

Joe’s only worry these days is whether they’re serving Puddin Pops after his nap.

I could see the Dems surreptitiously funding a Ross Perot type in 2024 to split the vote and produce another Dem win with a Clintonian plurality.

These people really don’t seem to notice Biden mental decline, it just amazes me.

And then we had Bill Clinton handle a wounded Russia with a drunk President as their leader. That brought Putin. Here we are.

We needed a Marshall Plan for the former Soviet Union. Stay out in the Balkans during the Yugoslav Wars. There's a chance that Russia would be more like Poland today. A blown opportunity.

they do....they’re just not reporting it. NOW, if it was a republican in office in this shape there’d be nightly stories illustrating the incompetence, psychologists testifying, doctors explaining the decline, etc.

**We needed a Marshall Plan for the former Soviet Union.**
What’s this WE? Let the Europeans do it. Haven’t we paid enough for 77 years?

What an odd comparison. Biden fell on his face right out of the gate and has never gotten up. Bush was ten years younger than Biden when first elected and was not in mental decline. With some successes under his belt, it made sense for Bush to run again. Who in their right mind thinks Biden should have a shot at a second term, unless they really like loser figureheads?

The way this is written it would seem he has no clue of Biden’s mental decline.

“We needed a Marshall Plan for the former Soviet Union”

It’s largely forgotten now, but there were some efforts along those lines. I remember being in college in 1991-92 when the Bush 41-era Peace Corps was recruiting people to go to the former Soviet Union to teach English, business skills, accounting, entrepreneurship, private enterprise etc. There were some private-sector efforts like that as well.

For sure, though, in hindsight we can see that the U.S. badly handled the post-Cold War victory. The proof of the pudding is in the eating, and the Russians look back at the USSR crackup like Germans in the 1930s looked back at the Treaty of Versailles (”we wuz robbed”).

Biden wont run for a second term. My concern is the dems will get a new young rock star candidate like Zelinskyy who will promise to fix Biden’s “mistakes.”

It’s very likely to be Booty-Gig.
They could elect Chasten as VP and use the VP residence to house the illegals Texas is bussing in.

AOC is eligible in 2024. We mock her, and she is easily mocked, but there are reasons she is a nationally know figure.

Clinton was able to lie convincingly and had charisma. Biden has zero charisma and even the media, no matter how hard they try, can’t cover for Biden’s ridiculous lies. Hard to say which family is more corrupt.

James Baker, Bush’s Secretary of State, wanted to do projects like that. It was Dick Cheney who convinced Bush to pursue a kick them when they’re down strategy.

I loved Cheney in the oughts, but I now realize that quite a bit of the current mess we are in can be traced to his influence.
