The Israeli military responded with artillery fire on Sunday night after a rocket was launched into Israel from southern Lebanon, the Israel Defense Forces said in a statement.
As calculations of the rocket’s trajectory indicated that it would come down in an open area, no sirens were triggered and the Iron Dome air-defense system did not intercept it, according to the IDF.
The IDF Artillery Corps fired “tens” of shells at the launch site and open areas in southern Lebanon, and an “infrastructure target” was also attacked, the military said.
There were no reports of casualties or damage, and no alert status for the region was declared.

Lighting up the sky for Orthodox Christian “Bright Week”.
I don’t think it was Christians who made the first launch.
I’m not sure Israel was in armed conflict with Lebanon.
There has been a large presence of terrorists in that region
for decades.
If Israel returned fire on them, that is probably not the
government of Lebanon.
Now... the government had been heavily populated by one
traditionally (thought of)(possibly Hezbolla) terrorist
group, and if their fellow travelers were involved, it
might be closer to a direct conflict with people close to
the government, but not officially so.
...after a rocket was launched into Israel from southern Lebanon...
IOW, the headline is BS. "Terrorists Attack Israel from Lebanon".
Just one little rocket. This is “armed conflict”? It’s not even a skirmish.
Used to be there were Jordanian troops stationed on one side of the street in Jerusalem, and Israelis on the other. And occasionally shots would erupt between them. Wasn’t any “armed conflict,” either. Just hot to trot youngsters in uniform occasionally getting trigger happy.
Can’t recall the name of the street, but years later I used to take care of a quadriplegic who lived on the same, now pacified street. It was in the Bucharim neighborhood next to R. Shmuel Hanavi and R. Bar Ilan. The grocer that I worked for in Efrat used to operate a grocery store right there on that street, Jordanian troops, IDF, sporadic shooting and mortars, and all. It was just the old normal.
BS is right.

The title is somewhat in error.
While Lebanese teritory was the location of where the missiles fired at Israel came from, it somehat misleading to say “Conflict Erupts Between Israel and Lebanon - as if to the state of Lebanon. The most truthful title would have been one of the following, either:
Conflict Erupts Between Israel and Hezbolla
or
Conflict Erupts Between Israel and Hezbolla Occupied Southern Lebanon.
The serious issue of the attack, left unsaid in the Isreeli news report, is the possibility of a new level of Iran coordinated cooperation between Hamas in Gaza and Hezbolla in Lebanon.
