Stocks plunged Thursday — with the Dow plunging more than 1,100 points — wiping out the gains from the previous session’s massive rally. In midday trading, the Dow Jones industrial average had slumped 3.3 percent. The S&P 500 index sank 165 points, or 3.8 percent, while the tech-heavy Nasdaq was the biggest loser, giving back 651 points, or 5 percent.

I never bought into the buy and hold strategy. I’ve managed to keep my 401k balance intact by exiting to a stable fund when the markets hit all time highs. I’m on the sidelines now.
That richest ones buy and short at the highs and lows. They’re a bit predictable at least half of the time I’d say.

Re: If you figure it out, you can make a lot of money. I was watching FBN and a guest was being questioned using data that in the past predicted outcomes. The guest correctly asserted that this is a time unlike any other.

Why do they release these stories before the trading day is even over?
They do it every day even if it’s not moving at all. Just fills up space on whatever platform they’re on.
Congrats! I practice your philosophy too. However, years ago I got upset with my wife when she bought into a stock because it crashed and was worth pennies, told me she would make a fortune when it rebounded - the stock was Enron. Told her it was going bankrupt, and she lost her money. She learned to be careful about what you buy. Not that I'm smarter, you just have to get burned once to learn - my mistake was buying Palm (Pilot etc.), lost a lot on that when it went bankrupt. Buy quality stuff when it dips.
I told many of my friends yesterday that yesterday’s 0.5% Fed interest hike was a feckless, useless gesture. The price of fuel is critical to inflation right now. Blame Botulism and Buggery for this mess!🤨👎📉

On 4JAN2022 the Dow Jones was at 36,799. Today it stands at 32,997 for a difference of of 3,802 points. That’s 10.33% drop which makes it a technical correction. Looking forward to seeing it hit the 20% mark soon!
