Elon Musk’s Tesla has recalled approximately 130,000 vehicles across the U.S. as the cars’ touchscreens can overheat and go blank. At the end of 2021, Tesla recalled 475,000 cars, or about half of the vehicles sold in the entire country.

TechXplore reports that Tesla is recalling 130,000 vehicles across the U.S. in yet another major recall. The reason this time relates to the vehicles’ touchscreens which can overheat and go blank. Many cars feature touch screens or digital displays, but unlike other vehicle screens which offer GPS navigation or music displays, the Tesla touch screen is responsible for many of the car’s basic functions.

Musk should pay more attention to Tesla and less attention to Twitter.

And these days, the touchscreen does pretty much everything in a luxury car; not just a Tesla.

Alexa, get rid of the blank screen! I mean, how hard was that?

Will that infringe on the ability to do Facef*ck while virtue signaling?

That will put a crimp on buyers of those oversized golf karts.

Mechanical gauges, carburetor engine, points ignition and a manual transmission... no problem that can’t be easily fixed in a garage/driveway. Crap these days are trying to kill ya!

Every car has these annoying stupid things.

I say get rid of it. Pretentious and confusing. None of them is the same, either, and we can’t figure out either car how to organize the USB memory stick music. BTW, I’ve found “manuals” totally stink for the last decade or so, despite tons of pages.

Glad to have my 64 Dodge and some tools to work on it, just in case.

We may begin to look like Cuba at this pace, with nothing but old iron running the roads.

Sure seems that way.

Hope to order the other fender tomorrow or Friday.

Slow go on the buckets of bolts but am a sort of responsible type working, paying bills, etc.

Do what I can when I can.

“the touchscreen does pretty much everything in a luxury car”

Not just luxury cars.

We had a Ford Explorer that melted the battery down (over charged). Why? Well the main computer controlled the voltage regulator. They “did an update on the the computer system” and replaced the battery.

It was fortunate that we were less than a mile from a Ford Dealer when we checked into the motel. I parked, it would not start again, went into sleep mode.

The car could not be started, because everything on the car depends upon the computer.

Nothing wrong with the alternator, only the program settings?

I know about voltage regulators. the sensor should be near the load. But that is NOT the way computers function.

I’m convinced that the regulator and alternator should be independent of the main computer.

It’s a labor of love and keeps me out of trouble, though frustrating at times.

From article: The reason this time relates to the vehicles’ touchscreens which can overheat and go blank.

Reminds me of the first iPads. You would take it to the beach, and in the hot sun the screen would go blank with a message that it overheated. Newer ones have cooler running microprocessors and electronics.

I imagine the same thing is happening when Tesla cars are sitting in the hot sun while parked, gets toasty inside and the screen bakes and goes blank. They need to shade it somehow, rather than have it exposed to sunlight.
