Should the rivers not empty into the ocean? Save it for the farmers? Salmon are sexy- delta smelt no. Too much salt in SF bay?

The Salton Sea had potential. What happened? It sure stinks down there.

Yup. They could have used it for sea salt like up around SF.

I think its cargil? that has about a 20 thousand acre sea salt plant up there.

Eff em. Reduce their take from the Colorado river that much.

on the one hand the drought and on the other the disproportionate increase in the population and consequently greater spending on water for daily consumption and the need for agricultural production to feed the inhabitants of the state.

“Guess theyre skerred there wouldn’t be any salt left in the o’shun.”

Just the opposite. After they take the salt out of the water to be used, the salt goes back to the ocean raising the salt content. That is the objection. It actually says so in the article.

In 1996 B1 Bob Dornan had his election stolen and nothing was done about it . This cancer has metastasized to where we are today. It’s so bad in California who knows if Larry Elder actually won or not? The bad guys sure made it look like a truncing. I actually believe no Republican can win in that state unless he is compromised in some way. Short of revolution or being over ruled by Federal Law I can’t see any way for California to vote its way out of its entrenched tyranny.

When our one of our kids were at the toddler age, they wanted my wife to buy them an expensive electric riding toy they saw at the store. My wife said “I don’t have enough money to buy that.” Their reply was “But you just go to the money machine (ATM) and get the money.”

I think of that event anytime rats want to spend crazy money. No concept of where the money really comes from.

Yep, stare with huge population, largest coastline and no water and in a long term drought… desalinating ocean water can’t be allowed…

They are literally insane. Their governor just announced something like a $75 billion dollar surplus....you can’t build a desalinization plant for that? And spend the money on how to disperse the returned unused saltwater constituents back into the sea efficiently? Not even a hint of scoping out what the Israelis do with their desalinization plants.

Instead, their governor wants use that found money to explore ways to provide more largess for useless segments of their society with absolutely no hope of return on their investment?

I say take every stinking one of these ‘panels’ and force the members to undergo a South Pacific island survival regime......you know, where there are mosquitos the size of birds, brackish swamp water, nothing but muck and mire.....like the kind of environment our grandfathers experienced at Guadalcanal, in Burma and elsewhere during WWII......

Desalination ‘waste’ can be made into sodium hydroxide and hydrochloric acid, which are in demand as industrial chemicals.

That $75 billion “surplus” is actually federal stimulus money. They certainly aren’t making ends meet themselves, let alone rolling in excess, and this despite having so many gigacap Big Tech companies in their borders: Google, Tesla, Apple, Facebook, etc.

... drawing in large amounts of ocean water and releasing salty discharge back into the ocean.

Damned right! Better turn off the sun too because it's doing the same thing! Imagine all that freshwater it took from the sea! It's turning that stolen water into clouds! The resulting rain then gets tossed all over the Earth without any sort of Government oversight!

California floats on a sea of oil they can’t tap. They bring in water from a parched west so they can let it flow into the sea to keep littoral sea life at an even keel while their farms turn into desert. There are so many other things wrong I can’t list them all. When I was desperate for a job there were only three places I wouldn’t move. Chicago, New York and California. I’m sure there are a few others, but they didn’t have my type of employment.

It was considered a crucial decision on the future of the plant after years of other hearings and delays.

The tool of the anti is delay and review which is what this is doing. No enterprise other than government can afford to continue when their antagonists block their efforts like this. The difference between this and the "High Speed Rail" in CA is that the latter is backed by the government.
