He drank water. WATER. He drank water and then shot people. Water causes people to shoot people. Water consumption is up 14%. We must do something about this water.
Quote of the week!!!
Here we go again.
Somehow they never seem to account for the millions and millions of people who play those very same games, yet do not feel the urge to go out and kill people.
They want to blame everything but the shooter.
Hogwash. I remember when D&D was going to make everyone devil worshippers.
Tipper Gore, is that you?
There’s so many degrees of first person shooters all share the same mechanic.
Are you a cartoon like Borderlands, are you comic book like in Fortnight, sci-fi like Halo or killing demons in Doom?
I would hardly call any of those murder simulators. You can point to a niche game that is not mainstream, some mod made for a very popular game or even point to GTA however I don’t see them as sources for “OMG let’s do this in real ife?”
I notice that none of these complaints about time spent with games apply to time spent on phones, with TV or any other media. I have never heard someone say “He binged watched Breaking Bad and became a meth kingpin!”
Balderdash. We grew up with the Three Stooges, Tom &Jerry, Road Runner & Wile E. Coyote.
Never poked people in the eyes, smacked anyone with a skillet, or blew them up with TNT from the Acme catalog. Somehow, we knew better. Were we just taught better? Were we taught, period?
We played cowboys and indians growing up. I’ve never shot an indian in real life.
Like pornography, extremely violent video games are addictive. A lot of people, mostly young males, get lost in that particular rabbit hole, never to emerge again as relatively normal human beings. Getting hung up on something that damaging in one’s youth will surely affect one’s entire future.
But they’re not my kids so meh. Passing laws against games is just silly. Parents should have more sense than to let their kids roll in extremely violent content, but a lot of them don’t. Pass laws against stupid people reproducing and we’re in communist china.
Just like porn addicts, violent vid addicts are easy enough to avoid, since - as the article points out - most of their waking hours are devoted to feeding their addiction and they only pop every once in awhile.
“Stay out of crowded places” is my advice. Also: If worst comes to worst, go for the head shot.
” Gendron is apparently from a strong family having parents who are civil engineers”
Why do I doubt that
I have it set up as a hotkey.
“We must do something about this water.”
Yep, no doubt about it.
How much money does your non-profit need?
If just half million people contribute $10, you should be able to solve this problem, right? If you can’t solve it...you should be able to make everyone aware how bad it is...right?
“John and Andy Schlafly are sons of Phyllis Schlafly (1924-2016) and lead the continuing Phyllis Schlafly Eagles organizations with writing and policy work.”
Yep.
Tax free donation sluts.
“A lot of people, mostly young males, get lost in that particular rabbit hole, never to emerge again as relatively normal human beings. “
They were NEVER normal. Not even at birth.
“Justice Alito, who reportedly wrote the strong first draft to overturn Roe v. Wade in the pending abortion case, did not endorse a First Amendment right to train teenage boys to maim and kill, as many video games do.”
The USMC trains these young men to kill effectively.
“Young men at age 18 should be learning skills to become productive members of society.”
Yeah, if they want to. Otherwise they earn their fate.
How about a Carpenter?
He hits nails with a hammer, then saws up wood.
ALL DAY LONG!
Pretty dang violent.
Somehow they never seem to account for the millions and millions of people who play those very same games, yet do not feel the urge to go out and kill people.
= = =
If I watch Good Morning America, I get some urges (self censored).
I did use the qualifier “relatively.”
