Its right there with Kwanza. Dontcha know?
No, it is actually not equivalent to Kwanzaa, which was started by a Marxist.
Why does anyone has an issue with celebrating the end of slavery in the United States?
If there is a day worth celebrating the ending of an abhorrent and immoral practice ranks pretty high up there in the course of the country and humanity as a whole.
I suspect that might be sarcasm, but in case it is not: Juneteenth is very much not like Kwanza.
Many in the country had not heard of Juneteenth, because it was a specifically Texas holiday, to celebrate the freeing of slaves there. DC has similarly had Emancipation Day adjacent to April 15th.
The holiday itself is something to be celebrated, though mandating it as a national holiday is debatable.
More attempt at division.
The party can’t survive without it.
“Its right there with Kwanza. Dontcha know?”
Nope. Juneteenth has been a holiday in Texas since I was a child. Unlike Kawanza it isn’t made up. And the emancipation of slaves is as good a reason to have a holiday as I can think of.
