On Friday’s broadcast of MSNBC’s “Jose Díaz-Balart Reports,” House Gun Violence Prevention Task Force member Rep. Mike Quigley (D-IL) advocated for treating gun violence as an issue of public health and stated that doing so “makes all the sense in the world.”
Quigley stated, “Look, treating gun violence as a public health issue — you had earlier segments on that — makes all the sense in the world. Identify the risk factors, tests, procedures that might work to reduce the gun violence that’s taking place in this country. I go way out there. Because ultimately, no single issue is going to solve this. This is a cultural problem that goes well beyond just these efforts. But you have to try, and these efforts will make a difference. I suppose it’s impossible to talk about banning the manufacture and sale of assault weapons. But let’s just use common sense, if the Second Amendment people talk about is to defend your home, your business, yourself, do you really need a weapon designed for a theater of war? You’re not really defending your home with that, no one would. You’re not hunting deer with that, no sportsman would. You’re hunting people. And we’ve seen it all too often.”

How about if we treat crazy as a public health issue?
The democrats are a Public Health Issue
How about looking into nearly two years of limited human interaction for a LOT of young kids. Or making mental health issue a bigger public health issue. Or quigs, STFU.
And how much do we trust the CDC and FDA at this point? Is the CDC going to write our firearms laws?
If it is a public health issue, vaccinate all the guns.
“The democrats are a Public Health Issue.”
That’s a fact.
He’s in the same party, the Media-Dem Party, which has campaigned for “bail reform” which turns dangerous criminals back onto the streets, has supported DAs who refuse to add firearm enhancements in criminal cases, has supported “defunding the police”, has supported rioters, looters, vandals, arsonists, and murderers. He even refuses to acknowledge that what we have is a criminal problem, largely inspired by the lawlessness which he and others like him support.
Let's see how fast that "common sense" lasts after a major civilizational upheaval ... an EMP event, a nuclear exchange, a large-scale natural disaster, etc. We had a little foretaste of that over the past two years. It can get a whole lot worse.
Besides, if the second amendment protects anything, it protects the right of the people to arm themselves as the unorganized militia. That's not for deer hunting.
I think it is reasonable to call whatever drives people to do these things is a public heath issue, whether they shoot people or run them down with SUVs. But ignoring the mental issues and confiscating some Yooper’s deer rifle isn’t going to help anything.
We should treat Democrats as the threat to liberty that they are.
Does this mean Obamacare will pay for my range time and ammo?
Is there a vaccine that will immunize angry 18 year olds from desiring to gun down school children?
He's absolutely right. Well, I would correct the last statement: You're defending against people.
From zealot Marxist government types, to mobs of woke rioters, to tyranny's handmaidens... those are the people we are defending ourselves against.
“Stuck on stupid. What a dumb thing to say”
No, he’s right on target. Our Biden administration representatives are currently in Geneva selling American sovereignty to the Marxist revolutionary Tedros or WHO, who is a tool of Gates and the CCP. They will control our health care. Think globalist Obamacare. think gun control through mental health.
Absolutely you would.. and in fact, a 30 round magazine is far too small. You should go for 60 round magazines.
No, he’s right.
If anyone who is on, or who has recently stopped (< 6 months) using SSRIs, commits or attempts a mass shooting, both the prescribing MD and the pharmacist who filled the prescriptions, are to be prosecuted as accessories.
Also, strip the MD, the pharmacist, and the drug company, of liability protection.
Sarcasm.
Or is it?
The Country’s Rat infestation seems to be the real health crisis.
Quigly is a a Chicago idiot and should be treated as a public nuisance.
“Identify the risk factors, tests, procedures that might work to reduce the gun violence that’s taking place in this country.”
I am not sure they realize where this would lead ... it would lead right back to them. Risk factors?
- Examine the statistics and identify the characteristics of who commits most of the violence
- Examine who runs the communities where most of the violence is committed
- Examine those communities’ procedures and track records for reducing violence.
