Rep. Mo Brooks (R-Ala,) is absolutely opposed to any new restrictions on guns — even regarding military-style assault weapons — because people need them to “take back” our government, he explained on Fox News Sunday.
Such action should only be undertaken in the event America becomes “dictatorial,” Brooks told host Sandra Smith.
“Oh, no, that’s wrong. That is absolutely false,” said Brooks, before Smith corrected him yet again.
Brooks claims the whole idea of the Second Amendment was to arm citizens to take over the country if need be — and that not having enough guns will spark the appetite of “dictators.” That didn’t happen, however, during the 10-year ban on assault weapons that expired in late 2004.
Exactly what the framers had in mind concerning protecting a “well-regulated militia” in the Second Amendment is not as crystal-clear as Brooks contends.
Many believe the Constitution is addressing exactly what it says: A “well regulated militia” — and not a bunch of beer-swilling pals blasting targets with military-grade assault rifles.

Mo Brooks has the right idea about taking our country back but he royally screwed up when he told the audience at Trump’s rally that we need to move on from the 2020 election steal.
We need common sense Licensing, Restrictions, Regulations, Training and Background checks for presstitutes engaged in Commercial Speech for compensation or gain.
Many believe the Constitution is addressing exactly what it says: A “well regulated militia” — and not a bunch of beer-swilling pals blasting targets with military-grade assault rifles.
Is he up for reelection?
“Many believe the Constitution is addressing exactly what it says: A “well regulated militia” — and not a bunch of beer-swilling pals blasting targets with military-grade assault rifles.”
But they didn’t. They wrote the words “the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed.”
No he didn't, that's old news and time to move on.
The mule is dead so stop kicking it and figure out a way to prevent it from happening in the future.

No Way.
The founders should have defined “shall not be infringed” in the Constitution...../s
“No he didn’t”
Well Trump thought so. He dropped his endorsement of him.
Are ya sure about that?
Ok, the Founders swilled Rum.)
As well as “Natural Born Citizen”
They fully expected we would know what they meant.
That wouldn't actually be too crazy. But I'm glad they were specific in mentioning that it was a right belonging to the people. I believe the literal meaning of "militia" was any organized group of men under arms. Could be a bunch of neighbors keeping watch over their valley. I don't think any specific government affiliation has ever been necessarily implied.
And "well-regulated" means competent and acting with self-control and expertise at one's task--not necessarily control by some exterior body.
Quite frankly, the founding fathers would be about done burying the bodies by now.
It’s easy to know what they meant. Most of the founders were prolific writers, which includes letters, pamphlets and books. They meant an individual right to own firearms is absolute, and frequently stated that idea in their writing . To claim otherwise is disingenuous.
Just as they clearly were restricting the office to only those who were naturally citizens because they could not be anything else to prevent foreigners from the office of President.
John Jay to George Washington:
“Permit me to hint, whether it would be wise and seasonable to provide a strong check to the admission of Foreigners into the administration of our national Government; and to declare expressly that the Command in Chief of the American army shall not be given to nor devolve on, any but a natural born Citizen.”
Y’all tell that to some city Democrat.

He’s running for US Senate in the June 21st runoff in Alabama against Mitch’s candidate Katie Britt.
