Did the dead quack inform him that only 40% of back surgeries are successful??
Your numbers are no longer correct. Proper back surgery for proper pathology is quite successful. Calling all surgeons quacks is broadly over general. But the conga line of the medical illiterati will soon arrive. You appear to be leading said parade.
He may have had a bad bedside manner but he did have a Harvard medical degree if that says anything.
Nonetheless, you are correct but I read that something like less than 35% are somewhat successful.
People expect to somehow abuse themselves, or not, and be pain free. That just does not happen. You get old, you get beat up and you will hurt.
“Did the dead quack inform him that only 40% of back surgeries are successful??”
While doctors are better than they used to be there are a few (&^%(^%) out there who come across as heartless and condescending. In general today, there is paperwork you sign that outlines all the potentially bad outcomes and their probability. A surgeon recently was quoted about the pre-pubescent patients who had undergone surgery for a sex change that they would never be capable of achieving sexual satisfaction. Screeching stop! Doctors are performing these vanity surgeries and apparently not telling anyone!?
AS for Trans surgery, I predict that there will be lawsuits galore. In a few years they will be viewed like making eunuchs or performing lobotomies. I can’t believe insurance companies haven’t outlawed the procedure.
Why are you sliming the doctor as a quack? Were you a patient of theirs or have personal knowledge of their practice? or do just get of on denigrating the dead?
I don't think it's fair to call him a quack. Yes back surgeries often don't solve the problems associated with back pain. I personally had back surgery 21 years ago. I was in severe pain and was actually in danger of permanent nerve damage and paralysis. I often do have back pain now, but it's not anywhere near what it was before surgery. I can walk and am not an invalid.
You don’t know the doc was a quack
Just went through massive surgery on my back. Fused the L2/3, the L3/4, the L4/5 and the L5/S1. My doctor invented a gimmick to use in back surgeries and it was approved by the feds to be used. It seems to work okay at this point, 16 days post-surgery. Basically, rebuilt my back. There is work yet to be done to get me out of all this pain I have suffered. But I ain’t going out and shooting up the danged country because of the pain. It started way back in my Army days. They would never operate on my back, shoulders or my knees. Now I have had 3 backs, two-shoulders and another surgery should be done after I recover this third back surgery. And, I had both knees replaced. The Army just refused to ever even scope the danged things. And the wear and tear over my military career and other activities finally broke them all down.
