A jumbo jet-sized mystery has landed in the lap of Argentine officials, who are trying to determine what to do with a Venezuelan-owned Boeing 747 cargo plane with a load of automotive parts and an unusually large crew of 17, including at least five Iranians.

The plane operated by Venezuela's state-owned Emtrasur cargo line has been stuck since June 6 at Buenos Aires' main international airport, unable to depart because of U.S. sanctions against Iran and suspicions about its crew.

Somebody needs to take a hard look at those “automotive parts.”

Fill it with fuel, add a long fuse, light, and send it out on the runway.

Clues about why Argentinian authorities might be suspicious of this company and this flight.

Nothing good comes out of the tri-border region in Paraguay, home to deep drug trafficking, arms trafficking and Iranian infiltration.

Fernandez said the plane had stopped in Paraguay in May. On June 6, it was headed for Ezeiza airport on the outskirts of Buenos Aires, but climatic conditions forced it to stop instead in the city of Cordoba before finally reaching the Argentine capital, where it attracted the attention of immigration authorities, who confiscated the crew's passports.

Until being sold to Emtrasur about a year ago, the plane had been owned by Mahan Air of Iran, a line the U.S. government has sanctioned for allegedly aiding the Quds Force and terrorist activities.

Argentina has been the focus of numerous Iranian attacks against its Jewish population.

Are the Iranian “crew members” meant to be joining the illegal aliens marching/sneaking into the US?

The whole thing looks fishy to me. And I like your suggestion.

They’ll be fording the Rio Grande before you know it...complete with their “automotive” parts.

Brandon will put’em on a bus...

I’ve been waiting for my Iranian distributor cap and wiper blades since May. I was wondering what the hold up was?

Confiscate the cargo, strip the plane for parts, and leave it over in an unused corner up on blocks.

Or, conversely eliminating the need to remove certain individuals from Argentina.

There's a website on which you can search an aircraft by its registration number to get details.I'd love to get that registration number.

Hmmm ... I wonder: If you assemble those “auto parts” in just the right way, do they become an AK47?

Iranian activites in Venezuela - small arms, Hezbollah, pick up Coke from Columbia and fly it back out to Mid East - Chevez *predecessor.

Ven - Iranian military/Hezbollah military delegations scout all US diplomatic missions in S.America during 2006-2012 timeframe. Also scout US business’s, and US citizens for future targeting.

I could go on, but you get the jest of what Iran is up to in S. America.

From Venezuela to the US via Argentina?

The Iranians are up to something dubious , but this time I doubt it has anything to with human smuggling.
