Security bodies in Israel and Turkey have warned of Turkish locals who have recently been enlisted by Iranian sources for the purpose of trying to woo Israelis with travel, guides, or tours in the city.
One Israeli told Channel 12 News of how the system works: "We swapped phone numbers, and then he said, 'On the way back also, I'll take you. I can help you get back.' He contacted me some four times, 'Come, let's drink something together this evening.'"
In an unusual step, the National Security Council this week published a detailed list of safety guidelines for Israelis who insist on traveling to or remaining in Istanbul, despite the repeated travel warnings.
Among the other recommendations, Israelis in Turkey are asked to lock their hotel room doors and avoid opening the door to unknown individuals who may present themselves in various ways, such as room service, maintenance, or deliverymen. If there is a delivery, it is necessary to ensure the trustworthiness of the person delivering the item. While in the lobby or other public areas of the hotel, Israelis are advised to pay attention to unusual people or activities.

Yeah, my question was, why are they even visiting Turkey, or I guess it’s spelled Turkiye now?

Perhaps a better recommendation would be not to go to Turkey in the first place.
I can see why a businessman would have to go to places like Turkey, Haiti, etc. But for tourists, what can you see there that you can’t see in a first-world country?
In Arabic, it’s Turqawa. In Esperanto, however, it’s Suck-iye.
Cyprus, I hear, is pretty nice.
I met an Israeli couple traveling in Turkey back in the 80s. They had no misgivings.
I’ve noticed a lot of young Israelis have a reckless wanderlust. I suppose they feel that the risk is worth it.
The Greek side.....
Here’s a safety guideline: don’t go to that anti-Semitic schithole. What’s the attraction, when they could go anywhere in Europe for about the same price?
I would rather go to Ukraine.

Really? What’s next, “Look both ways when crossing the street? Are Israelis THAT stupid?
Now in English it is now Turkiye. 🙂
Yeah, 40 years ago, just about every country was far different than they are today.
Hi.
Kidnapping is big business in Turkey.
Many reasons; ransom, slavery, kidney etc.

On a related note, here’s a short historical quiz:
Q. Why did Constantinople get the works?
A. That’s nobody’s business but the Turks.
Those that go to Sucki-ye certainly are.
I live in a vacation spot now. Nahariya is right by the Mediterranian and Mt. Carmel, and it’s a stone’s throw from Tzefat (Safed?), Ako and Haifa. It is accessible by car, train and bus. People are laid back and ok with each other, whether religious, secular, Muslim, Jewish. We get along. Or you can go to Suck-iye or any place in Europe and risk getting kidnapped, rammed by a car or suicide bombed. Your wife can also get raped. Fuhgeddabout it. Europe sucks. Even the Champs Elisais, or however the hell you spell it, is now strewn with garbage, or so I hear.
PERFECT
LOL!
They got some purty buildings, and ocean views. Or you can go out to the countryside and get pointers on how to hump goats so they don’t stab you with their horns. The males can be ornery like that.
