The number and rate of U.S. abortions increased from 2017 to 2020 after a long decline, according to figures released Wednesday.
The report from the Guttmacher Institute, a research group that supports abortion rights, counted more than 930,000 abortions in the U.S. in 2020. That’s up from about 862,000 abortions in 2017, when national abortion figures reached their lowest point since the 1973 U.S. Supreme Court ruling that legalized the procedure nationwide.
About one in five pregnancies ended in abortion in 2020, according to the report, which comes as the Supreme Court appears ready to overturn that decision.

The dream.
It began in a mall’s food court, with the big windows looking out at a threatening storm in the distance. Others sitting at tables round about talked in hushed tones of the appoaching storm.
Curious, I left the building through the back door of one of the kitchens. As soon as my foot touched the ground outside I jumped into the air in horror, for the ground was soaked with blood, it looked bad and it stank.
Normally in dreams if I try to fly it’s either a bust or else comical bouncing along the ground at high speed, but this time it worked. I flew from place to place looking for ground to stand on that was not drenched in blood. But it was everywhere, in the houses too.
The whole while the storm was always visible ... never farther away, or closer, or less threatening.
Finally, standing in this one house with the carpet feeling like waterlogged shag carpet between my toes, I finally understood that the blood was from abortions.
I was immediately wide awake and speaking, no transition, saying: “Thus says the Lord, shall a bloody nation not recieve blood from the Lord?”
It was and remains the only time I’ve ever said the first four words when I wasn’t reading Scripture or talking about Scripture.
Abortion is easily among the most selfish and unloving of sins, for it inherently is a crime against those with the very best claim for natural affection and care, and it is a big part of why I say that the fruit of being turned over to a depraved mind is on display through much of the culture.

The number shocks me
Many a time when splitting firewood I uncover an ant colony.
Invariably the exposed insects scurry about, gathering up as many eggs as they are able to carry before escaping to parts unknown.
God has given the lowly ant the instinct and the WILL to protect the unborn, the most vulnerable.
We bipedal sluggards had better consider the ant!
Is there any wonder that God is laying the wood to this country?

I don’t know if it includes plan b, the chemical abortion.
Add in miscarriages and maybe you have a 50/50 chance of being born after being conceived in this country.
But other countries are worse as bad as we admittedly are.
Ah after reading the article like a good FReeper I see the stats do include plan b.
So perhaps if conceived in the US your odds of being born are 2 out of 3.
God help us. More of the most innocent among us killed every year than the civil war. Disgusting. And the democrats take glee in this.
The known stats out side of plan b abortions, or surgical/chemical are 40 percent african Americans, 20 percent caucasians, and 40 percent everyone else(Asians, Latin caucs and Latin mixes, and unspecified). The African American abortion numbers are especially tragic because the come from a population that is only 13 percent of the total population of the USA...roughly 46 million and shrinking in proportions to the rest.
Plan B abortions anecdotally are the white middle and upperclass white girl’s “way of escape”.
The modern day holocaust continues unabated. We need a Nuremberg trial for all of the doctors and women who murdered the millions of children since 1973.
About what I would guess. Here in the deep south blacks use abortion as birth control for several reasons.
Free birth control and keeping on nes legs closed must be hard.
This is a national disgrace. Greatest evil since slavery.
