Unlike most states, IN gas tax is a percentage of the gas price, so the higher the price of gas, the gas tax automatically increases. The state benefits from inflation.

Gas has come down 10 cents in the Philly burbs.
It’s still ridiculous.

Something like 20 cents in Texas. Not enough to fund our highways, so we now add money from the general fund. Can’t see why Indiana can’t do the same...much more fair for people who have to use a lot of fuel.

If they use a lot of fuel they’re using the highways more so shouldn’t it be tied to fuel taxes and not coming out of the general fund? Business just passes along their costs anyway. What’s needed is a way to tax electric vehicle use so their owners can contribute to highway funds as well.

Hoosiers will pay 61 cents per gallon in taxes
Gheeze, I remember back in the 60s when gas was 38 cents per gallon and I thought THAT was too high.
I'd ask the attendant for "$1.50 worth of gas and drain the hose." :)

That’s crazy but I’m sure they didn’t expect to see gas prices sky rocket. So Republicans want to drop money on people as tax rebates amortized over seven years instead of doing a tax holiday? Indiana must have no way to support highways without the gas tax. That would seem odd to me but they’re the ones with a percentage rate rather than flat gas tax.
I think Georgia is doing a tax holiday on state gas taxes. We’re supposedly the cheapest gas in the country but is still way too high. Wages in Georgia don’t necessarily compete.

Is he still lactating?…
Even though ND is a Catholic school, university towns are typically liberal.
Is it like that in South Bend?
