KREMENCHUK, Ukraine (AP) — Russian long-range bombers struck a crowded shopping mall in Ukraine’s central city of Kremenchuk with a missile on Monday, raising fears of what President Volodymyr Zelenskyy called an “unimaginable” number of victims in “one of the most daring terrorist attacks in European history.”
Zelenskky said that many of the more than 1,000 civilians inside the mall managed to escape. Giant plumes of black smoke, dust and orange flames emanated from the wreckage, with emergency crews rushing in to search broken metal and concrete for victims and put out fires. Onlookers watched in distress at the sight of how an everyday activity such as shopping could turn into a horror.
The casualty figures were difficult to determine as rescuers searched the smoldering rubble. The regional governor, Dmytro Lunin, said at least 15 people were dead and more than 40 wounded. The Unian news agency reported 16 dead.
Soldiers worked into the night to lug sheets of twisted metal and broken concrete, as one drilled into what remained of the shopping center’s roof. Drones whirred above, clouds of dark smoke still emanating from the ruins several hours after the fire had been put out.
“We are working to dismantle the construction so that it is possible to get machinery in there since the metal elements are very heavy and big, and disassembling them by hand is impossible,” said Volodymyr Hychkan, an emergency services official.

It wasn’t crowded and there were soldiers there.
You are seeing some of the $40B worth of munitions the US supplied to Ukraine going up in flames. Next time, let’s set fire to the money here. At least that way we may be able to heat a few homes here.
You mean the entire $40B worth was in the mall? Must have been on the shelves of the HIMARSareUS next to the food court.
RE: You are seeing some of the $40B worth of munitions the US supplied to Ukraine going up in flames.
Source please.
1000 civilians and only 18 casualties from a missile direct hit?
If that was truly an ammo storage area, there probably weren’t many civilians in there, anyway. If not, they’re fudging numbers.
I don’t believe anything from Russia, Ukraine or the US.
RE: I don’t believe anything from Russia, Ukraine or the US.
So, there’s no news source from any country that you believe?
How do we know if this missile strike even occurred then?
“ Rumors are flying that the shopping center was hit by two missiles, not one, which would destroy the theory that this was an errant strike designed for a military target.”

Right. Some ‘user ID’ = ‘Jimmy’ posts a tweet to that effect and some individual using the user name ‘SeekAndGind’ advances it here. Yeah, those rumors are flying.🤣
The photos I saw, the building looked like a sheet metal structure, like a flea market converted big barn or something.
I don’t believe anything from Russia, Ukraine or the US.

Yep. This incident was poorly thought out , so i question if a missle was even involved…hundreds of dead and wounded would be plastered all over the news, so long livethe Ghost of Kiev
Lots of cars parked there…oh wait…
The attack video shows the Russian missiles precisely hitting the target weapons factory located behind the vacant apartment building followed by one of the Ukrainian s300 missiles launched in response to the attack, missing and falling on the roof of the apartment building. Two people died and some were injured.
The article expresses the opinion of what AP no doubt wished would have transpired.
Anyone have a copy of the UN report on this strike?
RE: Anyone have a copy of the UN report on this strike?
Can they make a report this soon?
Which has nothing to do with this attack, since in this attack the Russians bombed a shopping mall.
Mmmm, why would people would move their cars away from a burning shopping mall?
It’s propaganda. Dead shoppers don’t move cars.
Try thinking before posting.
On the 06/27 daily report on askeptic.substack.com it says "It doesn't look like the mall was open at all. In Instagram, according to the geotag “Amstor shopping center”, there are no photos of visitors since March. Reviews on websites and Google maps also stopped leaving in March. Apparently, the equipment repaired at Dormash was stored in the shopping center."
