Two New York men wept as a judge handed down prison time for their participation in the Capitol riot last year.
Cody Mattice, 29, and James Mault, 30, both received 44 months of prison time on Friday, according to records from the Justice Department. In April, the two pleaded guilty to assaulting law enforcement officers during the Capitol riot, a Justice Department release says.
After breaching the Capitol, Mattice "reached out to another rioter and grabbed a small object appearing to be a canister," the release says. "He then sprayed chemical spray at police officers."
"Mault also got a second canister from the crowd and provided it to another rioter," the release says.
During the insurrection, Mattice captured himself and Mault on video. In one of the videos, according to the release, Mattice can be heard saying, "It's about to be nuts," as he headed toward the Capitol.

They got Bammy’s hanging stooge, Beryl A. Howell.
You should see the reactions to the sentencing of the abortion supporting Dems who were responsible for more than 50 bombings and acts of arson and vandalism of pro-life or religious centers last year:
There weren’t any.
None were arrested or charged.
My, I’ll bet this article gives lefties a stiffie.
Stupidly videotaping yourself is never a good idea.
The world would be better without video of everything.
If they sprayed police officers with pepper spray or something, they deserve to be punished.
But remember, the woman in Portland who threw a Molotov Cocktail into a police car with 5 officers inside was sentenced to only 33 HOURS of COMMUNITY SERVICE.
Doubt they were Trump supporters.
Probably left wing agitators.
That’s what I’m wondering.
Should have yelled “black lives matter” and they would be given awards.
So what does Mueller and the Dems get charged with for their fake fraudulent Russia investigation that was clearly aimed at overthrowing a Presidency?
Unfortunately We have some pretty stupid and reckless people on our side too.
Those who engaged in violence or destruction deserve what they get. Those who just were protesting peacefully should be let go immediately, no BS trespassing charges.
They already have been in custody for over a year-—does that time apply???
Really?
The CP were spraying so much of that stuff you could have gone swimming it it. They were all getting back blasted by their own spray. I would have told them to prove they got hit by something other than their own.
.
Our system is so out of whack.
It lets killers and violent offenders out on low bail.
While leaving protesters rot in jail for over a year?
The leftist, socialist, communist, fascist, anarchist DAs didn’t want any of their pals arrested or charged; pretty simple.
“Mission accomplished” - Ray Epps
Given that they were denied bail for pretrial release that time served will almost certainly count. In both state and federal systems of a person is fiscally unable to post bail their pretrial detention must be counted into the judgment against them. For no bail cases the time should count using the same precedence.
Do you actually think left wing agitators would have gotten 44 months in prison?
Agreed. There were some idiots there, and some of them were violent despite the claims of some here. They should be held accountable. My problem is with the justice system is:
- Those who are being prosecuted for non-violent protests. For parading, trespassing, interfering with congress. These people are simply being persecuted for their political beliefs.
- Those on the left who commit violent felonies in the name of protest, and are either not prosecuted at all, or receive extremely lenient sentences.
- The participation of the DOJ in allowing or encouraging chaos through embedded agents, provocateurs and/or inaction.
Our system is so out of whack.
It lets killers and violent offenders out on low bail.
While leaving protesters rot in jail for over a year?
Exactly.
Political opposition punishment.
Meanwhile, the complicit, UniParty RINOs say nothing.
