The climate change conspiracy theory is still nonsense [clear logical fallacies]
World Net Daily ^ | August 4, 2022 | Jonathon Moseley

Seriously, there is no climate crisis. Readers of WND have known this for at least 20 years, like a great many other things.

Yet Democrats aim to make themselves even more unpopular by spending $439 billion over several years on climate change and renewable energy plans that haven't worked since the 1970s under Jimmy Carter. (The U.S. Department of Defense requested $495.6 billion for Fiscal Year 2015). Democrats have forgotten about Solyndra.

How many different ways can we explain that humans are incapable of and are not affecting the climate of the Earth? It starts with a failure to understand that the Earth is gigantic, not small.

So let's throw another log on the bonfire. The climate change conspiracy theory violates the rules of logic and engages in a classic, well-known logical fallacy. (Of course in popular shorthand we are talking about man-made climate change.) As even the left-wing Buzzfeed News has noted for fun, (a) Increased consumption of ice cream apparently causes more murders. (b) A decrease in the number of pirates corresponds with global warming. So is global warming caused by a lack of pirates? (c) Use of Internet Explorer appears to reduce the murder rate. (d) Highway deaths seemingly fall when the USA imports more lemons from Mexico. (e) Greece's debt crisis was apparently caused by the expansion of Facebook.

According to "Spurious Correlations" compiled by Tyler Vigen, (a) More movies starring Nicholas Cage cause more drownings in swimming pools. (b) Divorces in Maine fall when more people consume margarine. (c) Fewer people drowning after falling off a fishing boat reduces the marriage rate in Kentucky.

At its core, the hypothesis of man-made climate change is this:

A happened. Then B happened. Therefore, A caused B.

This is not science. This is not even rational. This is nonsense.

This is a recognized logical fallacy called "Post hoc, ergo propter hoc" or "After this, therefore because of this." That is, if carbon dioxide increased in the Earth's atmosphere, and then the Earth's global temperature really did increase, that would tell us nothing. This would tell us that CO2 increased, then temperature increased. A happened before B happened. That does not rationally suggest that increases in CO2 cause increases in global temperature.

This also referred to as a Post hoc logical fallacy. Specifically, "assuming that since A happened before B, A must have caused B. Example: After eating a cheeseburger, I wrecked my car. The cheeseburger must have made me wreck my car (no clear connection between A and B)."

Even the left-wing Huffington Post, trying to defend Obamacare at the time, admitted that:

"Just because something happens after something else has happened does not mean that second thing had anything to do with the first thing. Things happen all the time. Constantly, all around us, things are happening, and they may or may not have any cause and effect relationship. Things may be linked, or said to be causal, when in fact they have no relationship at all."

If we knew that the carbon dioxide content of Earth's global, planet-wide atmosphere had increased, and if we knew that then the Earth's global, planet-wide temperature increased, what would that tell us? Absolutely nothing. A friendly co-worker used to love to quote his Jewish grandmother: "So if you knew, what would you know?"

Also, the amount of CO2 in the atmosphere is very small (.04%), and 95% of that comes from natural sources, not human technology.

That’s not fair to bring things logic like that up in an argument based on emotions, did you know that 90% of the people that died in car accidents ate carrots within 48 hours?? BAN CARROTS!!

CO2 is so yesterday. Today it’s Methane....

The Inflation Reduction Act contains a methane fee.

Methane fee: Methane is one of the most dangerous greenhouse gases, and is the second-biggest contributor to climate change, after carbon dioxide. Burning off excess methane, or flaring, is particularly hazardous for both people and wildlife, and methane leakage is a common problem in fossil fuel production. The IRA Includes funds for methane emissions monitoring and fixes, and applies a fee on oil and gas operations of $900 in 2024 (up to $1,500 in 2026 and thereafter) per metric ton of methane
https://www.audubon.org/news/the-inflati....

Consider the gas and oil industry produce 13MMT of methane annually. Who believes these fees wont be passed onto consumers?

PS The Livestock industry produces 220 Billion Pounds of methane a year. Netherlands here we come.

Yup. There are so many ways this is false.

And the climate cult can’t get past any of them

I like giving the following illustration.

Turn a blank sheet of paper sideways. On the left write “weather event” in small letters, draw a circle around the words, and then draw a small arrow pointing to the right side. On the far right, write the words "man made climate change” in small letters, draw a circle around the words, and then draw a small arrow pointing to the circle.

Is there not a large blank space in the middle? Do you ever see a story which fills in this area? Do you ever read a story that uses words like sun and ocean?

Natural methane seeps out if the ocean and soil at a mostly unknown rate.

Today’s temps where I am at range from 66 degrees to 97 degrees. Yet the global warming liars insist that a 1/2 degree change some 100 years from now will destroy the planet.

This is a power grab and mostly it is a money grab.

Ask people to fill in the blank space. But whatever they do must be defensible in terms of laws of probability as applied to open systems. Before you try this look up probability and open system, because the person you confront will likely stare at you like a deer caught in headlights and you will have the opportunity to make a derisive comment.

Very close, well done. It’s becoming more difficult to find updated information, especially the current reservoir of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere. It’s a shell game propagated by the powers-that-be. Shame on you NOAA et al.

CO2 as a % of the atmosphere in 2021 (average): 418 ppm or 0.0418%. GML.

Current reservoir of CO2 in the atmosphere: 850 Gigatonnes. NASA, 2017.
Current global CO2 emissions from fossil in 2021: 36.3 Gigatonnes. IEA.

CO2 fossil fuels emissions as a percentage of the current reservoir:
36.3 GT /850 GT = 0.0427 or 4.27%. QED.

You could then give them a hint. In the empty space draw one large circle and a smaller circle. Lable them sun and ocean.
