A 12-year-old boy who was comatose in the United Kingdom has died after a lengthy legal battle ended with the determination that doctors could remove him from life support. Archie Battersbee, 12, died at a London hospital around noon on Saturday, about two hours after doctors discontinued treating him. Young Archie has been in a coma since April 7, when he was initially found unconscious in the family’s home. Ella Carter, the fiancée of Archie's eldest brother, Tom, said the family watched the boy’s final moments. "He went completely blue,'' she said. "There is absolutely nothing dignified about watching a family member or a child suffocate. No family should ever have to go through what we’ve been through. It’s barbaric."

We can have all the compassion for the child and family, and we can suspect government health care control however:
Brain stem dead is dead except for the machines. It is understandable that people don’t want to let go and have hope beyond hope but prolonging his death does nothing for the boy or anyone else.
Healthcare is nationalized in Britain; it’s neither about helping the sick nor making a profit...merely about perpetuating the bureaucracy.
The same issue would also happen in the US. Remember Jahi Mcmath?
National Health Care makes the decisions. Not the patient. It’s what the democrats want for us too.
You cannot keep patients on ventilators for months without some hope of recovery. Ventilator patients are very time and staff intensive.

Remember this if you have covid’s next mutant strain: Ventilator patients are the ones that die. Oxygen is okay but DO NOT go on a ventilator.
