Science is finding that women struggle more than men when it comes to staying faithful in relationships.
“Even when your marriage is good, you still miss that rush of feeling so excited you can’t eat or sleep when you’re having such an intense time emotionally and sexually with a new person. That’s what I kept going after, and what I couldn’t say no to.”
That’s how Annika*, 45, from Melbourne, describes her experiences with cheating, and she’s far from alone. According to a growing body of research, many women in long-term relationships are sexually adventurous and have secret lovers.
The view that it’s mostly men who cheat because their partners lose interest in sex is outdated. Science says that it’s actually women who struggle more with monogamy because they get bored in the bedroom. Women crave sexual variety and while some stifle their desire, others will be unfaithful.

BS science. Was this study conducted by 19 year old men? Women are not as sex driven as men. A bunch of wishful fantasizing that the world is teeming with hot horny housewives.

Almost all social science “research”, especially if it deals with sex, belongs in the “Journal of Irreproducible Results”. Usually the methodology is bad; the interpretations go beyond the evidence; and, because most of the research is agenda driven, there is often outright fraud. These “studies”, however, get lots of attention because the titillate and because very few people understand how bad the “research” methods are.

I remember reading someplace that in looking at DNA there twice the number of females as males in the DNA pool. Not sure how they determined that.
Report probably sounds accurate given the increase in promiscuity before marriage. It’s not like that poison just disappears that someone fills their mind and body with after getting into a committed relationship. The emotional bond of sex doesn’t exist for them - it has become purely physical / recreational...severely cheapened.
The prevalence of pornography being accepted in mainstream entertainment over the last decade or so also likely helps to fuel this cheapening of sex.

No, they were seen as "trouble" because the consequences of female infidelity were far more devastating to the security of the family.
If Dad "played around" while on business trips, it had no impact on the family's structure or stability. (I am, of course, omitting the effect of possible venereal disease.) Both the father and the mother could be sure that their children were, indeed, their own progeny, and that no resources were being squandered on "cuckoo" kids.

I think that general statements are hardly ever accurate for the vast majority of people. So much goes into human psychology that the variables are nearly impossible to apply to an individual.
My personal experience is that this stuff happens more than most everyone would guess. And, proper counseling with two willing parties, couple can recover and move forward.
Communication is the key. Many of the responses to this thread will indicate that effective communication and understanding is lot to many.
But, everyone walks their own path.

A belief held by many Christian conservative man who love to White Knight for women. Women are pure and holy. If a woman commits adultery, it's only because her lousy husband drove her to it.
Men are more diverse in the range of intelligence. There are geniuses as well as more dunces.
Women tend to cluster around the average.
A better way of explaining the findings you mention is: In pre-industrial societies, 50% of the men never reproduced. But 90% of the women did reproduce.

Women cheat because they can.
Almost ANY woman could get laid on a Saturday night IF they wanted to. There would almost always be some guy that would be willing to take them home.
That can not be said of most men.
One is as faithful as one is unattractive.
I still wonder from time to time if it’s cheating if you live in the same house with all of them. Opinions seem to differ on that.
