Actually, the AFA is acknowledging it. They’ve said publicly they want cadet wing demographics to match the general population. They’re basically discouraging white male applicants. These boys are taking the not so subtle hint that they are not welcome and shouldn’t bother applying.
In other news, the AF Academy proudly proclaimed that it would ENSURE that at least 50% of its new entrants would be non-white.

I was on the admissions board at the naval academy. We get 40K applicants and accept 1200. So what. Now we get 20K and pick 1200. This is just crying over a statistic number.

You are correct. Applying to a service academy is a multi year process. You don’t just drop an app in the mail. White boys have gotten the word. They are not welcome unless they are an athlete or connected. OTOH, the world is an oyster for a competent young female. We have become a gynocracy without a doubt.

I served under Carter, Reagan, then Slick. We lost a LOT of Captains and Senior NCOs (E-7) during the, ‘Don’t ask, Don’t Tell’ foolishness.
I got out in 1993 after Operation Desert Storm. We had a special needs kid that needed me at home.

I attended the Naval Academy, retired from the Navy reserves. Three of my children attended service academies (1 USNA, 2 USAFA). I never consciously encouraged my children to attend a service academy. In today’s environment, I would actively discourage them from applying.
