The IRS official chosen to lead the new "centralized office" featuring the nearly 87,000 new employees funded in President Biden's Inflation Reduction Act was involved in the agency's targeting of conservative groups that opposed Barack Obama's reelection in 2012.
Nikole Flax served as the chief of staff for then acting IRS Commissioner Stephen Miller, who was fired amid a cover-up of the scandal. When Republican lawmakers sought communications related to the scandal in an investigation, Flax's emails were among those the agency claimed were lost in a computer hard-drive crash. The IRS, the lawmakers charged, was attempting to "cover up the fact that it conveniently lost key documents in the investigation."
On Friday, as the Daily Signal reported, IRS Commissioner Charles Rettig said in an email to employees that the agency will establish a "new, centralized office" to implement elements of the bill, including the nearly 87,000 new IRS agents. The partisan bill, signed without a Republican vote, provides $80 billion to the IRS, mostly to pay for the new agents through 2031.

I’m not surprised by any level of insanity that comes out of this administration. They could appoint a violent gangster rapper to the secretary of the Department of Defense and it would be par for the course.
Yup. Takes a lot to surprise me these days. Like Ground Hog day except Twilight Zone-ish.............
Mitch could have stopped this. But he got rolled, again.
And Trump called him out on it.
Again.
What does it take to dump him as “leader?”

It is amazing the bad luck these government agencies have with losing data. The FBI, the IRS. I can hardly believe the bad luck they have.
I’m afraid our central government is so bloated, so rigid, so ideological, and so controlled - it can not change without a major energy or debt collapse of the country and total loss of faith in our elites, ala the Soviet Union in 1990
Its probably our best hope at this point, which isn’t saying much.
This is why Repubs need to go after criminals in office while they have the opportunity, and strip them of pensions and the ability to ever work in public “service” ever again. But no.
Merci beaucoup! πβ
And, I used the exact header in the search box. π€
I simply get a letter from the IRS saying I owe x more and send it in. No explanation. If that is how they are increasing our taxes why do they need 87,000 new agents.
They absolutely are going to use all of these agents to harass conservatives and worse.
I’d think the only worse one would be Lois Lerner.
An army to ration and ultimately kill us
Ping
Yes I’m sure those job applications are surging in. π
“”They absolutely are going to use all of these agents to harass conservatives and worse.””
Yesterday someone on FOX said that they are considering using SOME of the 87,000 hired to go to work at the southern border. I’m sure a bean counter can really be a big help at the border. But I’m not sure bean counters are who they plan on hiring at the IRS...perhaps those “got aways” we hear about? After all, they’ll need jobs.
She was fired long ago and is now available to take another government job? She didn’t find employment anywhere else all this time? Really, really incredible!!
How about we bring back Lois Lerner? She could probably use a government (us) paycheck again.
Hmmmmm. I don’t think Lois went away. Anybody? Bueller?
