The top Republican leader in the Maryland Senate declined to endorse his party’s nominee for governor on Tuesday as Republicans continue to grapple with far-right conservative Dan Cox at the top of the ticket.
Senate Minority Leader Bryan Simonaire, speaking about the need to break Democrats’ supermajority control in the Legislature, said he was solely focused on the candidates for state Senate and had no plans to endorse any of the statewide nominees.

“He’s got a tough race, but I’m very proud of him,” Trump said before taking credit for Cox’s primary win, prompting Cox to stand up in the arena, smile, wave and give two thumbs-up."
Md. is LOST.
Time to withdraw.
Always team players, those ‘reasonable’ Republicans!
Sarcasm, of course.
This is what we are up against folks. Not only the Democrats and the media, but also the RINOs.
This is why we can’t have anything nice.

Which is why thousands of hardcore Trump supporters, myself included, begged him to get away from the GOP and establish a TRUE second political party for his 80+ million voters following the Pence double-cross on 1/6. Too bad he didn’t listen!
Even Tarzan would not win in a jungle full of pygmy cannibals. It’s the same thing in Maryland.
Idiots like this guy are the reason I didn’t vote for any incumbents except Dan Cox.
Saboteurs POS! That’s why we can’t have nice things!
No. We should contest elections everywhere. No certain offices for the Democrats. They challenge the Republicans everywhere. We should do the same no matter how hopeless it may seem.
It’s always a one way street with these Establishment republicans.
They DEMAND that we support their squish candidates and get all outraged if they don’t have full compliance. Let anybody say how weak an Establishment republican is and they call out the 11th commandment.
But when conservatives run candidates and push out the Establishment, they are free to besmirch us, they are free to go on CNN and give good talking points to the enemy, they are free to withhold support, and they are free to do anything else they want.
Please clap.
well, unfortunately, “we” (not us here, but collectively nationally) consent to it by not funding the candidates, leaving them at the mercy of the establishment and the donor class. This is an entirely voluntary action. Sitting on one’s hands and keeping one’s wallets closed has consequences.
Maryland is similar to a pit full of venomous political snakes (both parties), like the pit that Ragnar Lothbrok, was thrown into...
The Baltimore Sun labels Cox as “ far-right “.
That tells you everything you need to know. Cox must be scaring them to death.
Yep
I agree, but its also not just about the money. Just making a cash donation and then washing your hands of all involvement is equally problematic and in many instances, I have more respect for those people who don’t have the money so they can’t donate, but they go get involved and put their time on the table. Anybody can write a stinking check. But the volunteer, that’s a truly special individual.
It’s a perennial problem that we have (I mean us here, and those who may be primary voters) where people actively don’t want to be involved. That gives the Establishment a distinct advantage.
The battle for cry of anti-activism is “I have a job!”
I just thank God that “I have a job” was thrown out the window in 2010 with all those Tea Party protests. It is heartbreaking though that it didn’t last, and here we are, like its 2009 again.
Nobody wants to be involved and even takes pride in being a part of the “silent majority”, then everybody scratches their heads that everything is broken. It’s obvious to me, but I know it’s only me.
If (x person) wasn’t involved with their marriage, wouldn’t their marriage be in shambles?
If (x person) wasn’t involved with their children, wouldn’t their children likely hate them? And sure, we can even throw in:
If (x person) wasn’t involved with their job, wouldn’t they get fired?
But yet somehow people refuse to get involved, and are shocked that politics is in shambles.
I truly don’t get it how they don’t see it.
Sorry for venting my frustrations so aggressively.
I guess he was looking for a Republican candidate who would be a graceful and impressive loser as so often happens in states like Maryland.
