Ukrainian forces were charging through an expanding area of previously Russian-held territory in the east on Friday after bursting through the frontline in a surprise breakthrough that could mark a major turning point in the war.
After keeping silent for a day, Moscow effectively acknowledged that a section of its frontline had crumbled southeast of Ukraine's second largest city Kharkiv.
"The very fact of a breach of our defences is already a substantial victory for the Ukrainian armed forces," the head of the Moscow-installed administration for occupied areas in Kharkiv province, Vitaly Ganchev, said on Russian state TV.

This is good news. The Ukrainians don’t need any more of our money or hardware.
Those are journalistic terms but quite descriptive in this case. We are talking about Manstein/Rommel/Patton speeds here.
I can imagine what WWII journalists would have written in their time.
But the Russians are winning, says the Putin bootlickers here who bought the line that Putin is our last line of defense in Europe against the NWO. How dumb do you have to believe that? Some Freepers would have been down with Hitler in WW2 because he said he was against the communist takeover of Europe.
The Ukrainians are also by-passing the towns and just encircling them and creating isolated pockets of Russian troops. It’s true 21st century rapid maneuver warfare!

Once they have won their war they will have to build and maintain a powerful military, given who their neighbor is, and no matter what happens to Russia its still going to be a problem for its neighbors.
I doubt the US will be in shape to subsidize Ukraine, for entirely unrelated reasons. The US is going down, and it will be a hard fall.

Luckily for Ukraine they have all of those militia infantry brigades, they are ideal for containing pockets. I hope lots of those guys are moving up.

Good point. The likely end goal of this is Ukraine in NATO with a large, experienced, and motivated army armed with Western tech. For a couple generations they can keep Russia in check.
Ironically Russia looks like its war will be the cause of the imagined future that Putin launched this war to prevent.
I am glad for them but they shouldn’t get anything beyond humanitarian support.

Whats the difference between a tik-tok victory and an actual victory? Not much IMHO. This flag waving is just a demonstration of fact, which has always been done in war.

The Ukrainians here managed 15-30 miles a day depending on the endpoint we are assuming.

You know the US sells the world’s best weapons, right?
What we have given to Ukraine will be 10X in future arms sales.
Weapons sales is one of the major reasons we live in nice houses and drive nice cars and have the highest std of living in the world.
If you don’t like it, find another country to live in. If it’s safe and secure, it probably buys our weapons.
