No disrespect but had to stay the night this summer in Pueblo and let’s just say I was glad to get out of there. Full of street vagrants and shady people. Must be the interstate effect.
Those folks in Pueblo and San Luis valley are not illegals and mostly proud to be Americans. They speak English and don’t appreciate the invaders.
So, yeah, we’d notice the difference.
New Mexico is called New MEXICO for a reason. The actual Mexican Immigrant and multi generational population here has been portrayed as not all 100% with the new wave of Central and South American immigrants. Seems there is almost as large a divide between actual Mexicans or Mestizo's to the Southern cousins in customs and in language as there is to the between them and the gringos. It may all iron out, at least the current immigrants do melt into New Mexico easier than say Delaware.
Remember, in 2018, when a rush of “migrants,” were coming through, Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham said there was no crisis at the border, and made that awful ad with her busting through Trump’s wall?
Later, when border towns like Deming, Lordsburg, became overwhelmed, there was a suggestion to send them to Santa Fe. Gov. Lujan-Grisham refused to allow them in that sanctimonious sanctuary city.
Just take your fair share of these visitors.
OH NO! They won’t be able to complain that they can’t import enough workers to man the resorts!!! (No, seriosuly... these multi-billion dollar corporations that run the resorts were insisting they couldn’t possibly find anyone to run the resorts for $11/hr.)
New Mexico is not named after the country of Mexico. It was named after the belief that it was founded by dwellers of a mythical Aztec homeland. Spaniards named the region of the upper Rio Grande, “Nuevo Mexico” way back in 1560. New Spain wasn’t named Mexico for hundreds of years.
New Mexico already sends illegals to Texas. And the poor. Their hospitals send them to the closest Texas hospitals.
I hope they don’t deny Juan Hidalgo his dream to compete as an Olympic skier. A dream that has only been denied to him being born in Guatemala; a country without snow.

I spent enough time in Albuquerque to learn it real well if growing up in CO wasn’t enough.
A lot of Hispanic families in NM have been there before there was a Mexico and before there was a U.S.A. They’re still not that thrilled with the “immigrants” from Mexico that came here in the last hundred years.
Nope. Pueblo has been that way forever.
