An alarming surge in threats and confrontations has elected lawmakers so rattled that Sen. Susan Collins, R-Maine, said she was worried that a murderous encounter may be looming.

She thought that by identifying with the powers that be, she would be immunized against the people she represents. Sorry it only works that way in a court of law.
If it weren’t for Scalise’s armed bodyguards (because of his position), the incident could have easily resulted in a couple of dozen dead Republican Congressmen. Since the gunman was killed it was easy for the media to forget the story quickly or treat it as limited to Scalise being injured.
Politicians should be worried all the time. Because they aren’t they pull the crap they have been for the past 50 years.
Our Founders would abhor the notion of “career” politicians.

That statement should do a lot to unite us.
Well, at least we are guaranteed to know that the person deserved it.
I prayed for Scalise’s healing for months when I said my Rosary on the way to work. Then just a few years later, he winds up in the “leadership” and becomes a Trump hater. 🤦♀️
