LaToya Cantrell, the controversial Democrat mayor of New Orleans, has said she will repay the city for $30,000 she claimed in city cash for first class flights.
The mayor was forced into the U-turn after a city attorney was brought in who determined that Cantrell, as a city employee, was obliged by policy to seek the cheapest fares or reimburse the city for deluxe expenses.
New Orleans' chief administrative officer Gilbert Montano indicated that he would enforce the policy, prompting Mayor Cantrell to say she would reimburse the city.
'Based on the policy review, however, I will have to reimburse,' she said. 'So I'm moving forward to do that,' without specifying when she would do so.
Cantrell had previously caused outrage when she spent taxpayer money on first class air travel to France and Switzerland and excused it by saying economy class was 'unsafe' for black women...
The under fire mayor is already in hot water after admitting to living in a city-owned apartment in the city's French Quarter rent free.
At first she repeatedly refused to repay the cost of a luxury American Airlines flight from Washington Dulles Airport to Switzerland for herself in July, despite a city ban on luxury air travel.

She needs to reimburse the city for her taxpayer funded Section 8 French Quarter housing as well - and look deeper- I am sure she has stuck the residents of New Orleans with every single thing she can including utility bills, housekeeping charges and food bills when she is off work.
Check out her mileage, per diem claims, hotel claims including room service charges and alcohol, transportation claims- see if she stuck everyone with dry-cleaning expenses, housekeeping expenses, purchase of gift cards with corporate credit card, cash advances, gifts/jobs for her family and any other thing you can think of.
I saw people do some questionable things at my old company and a Berkshire Hathaway forensic accounting team came in and brought much to light.
New Orleans, do better. Vote this welfare scum sucking ilk out of office. Notice she paid because she was told she HAD to, not because she wanted to do the right thing.
There are so few decent, rational people living in Democratic urban areas that the constant manifestations of corruption, decadence and hedonism should surprise no one.
The real crisis will come if the Republicans take Congress and cut off the funding of these urban hellholes with the Biden bucks.
