Republican Rep. Nicole Malliotakis has a 6 percentage-point edge over Democratic challenger Max Rose in a House district that comprises Staten Island and parts of south Brooklyn, according to a poll released Thursday.
Malliotakis leads Rose 49% to 43% in a rematch of their 2020 race in which she knocked off Rose, then the incumbent, by slightly more than 6 points, a Spectrum News/Siena College poll found.
The survey found that Malliotakis, running in a district that former President Donald Trump won by 10 points in 2020, is getting a boost from independent voters and a smidgen of Democrats who are crossing party lines.

Thank God! Malliotakis is good for Staten Island, New York and America.
Bellwether for a red wave. Very good sign.
Republicans have a better chance in New York than Chicago...where there is no chance.
“Thank God! Malliotakis is good for Staten Island, New York and America.”
Nicole Malliotakis is one of the worst RINOs in the house.
She voted with the Democrats to remove Marjorie Taylor Greene from all committee assignments.
Here’s her conservative rating:

Yes, all but the northern part of the island which is black. District also contains part of Brooklyn.
Under this map (we were screwed in the dem gerrymander that was overturned) Trump got 53% in the district.
I consider it safe.
“Staten Island mostly Repub?”
Yes, it is. Whenever you see the one Republican on the NYC City Council, he is always from Staten Island. Their reason for their existence is to annoy the progressives on the NYC mainland. lol
I know I’ve heard it before, but I still cannot imagine actual red districts in New York State, anywhere.
Nope. This is a Trump +10 district and the Republican is up only 6. If that relationship held nationwide the. democrats would keep the House.
Maybe- maybe not. Rose never should’ve won back in 2018- he rode the rat anti-Trump wave. SI is the only conservative part of NYC- hence it has the highest per capita income and lowest crime rate.
I hope you are right but this is no more a bellweather than the rats holding a seat in the special election for NY 18 in August from where i sit in NY.
She’s definitely a RINO on some issues but for the most part she’s very anti-Biden, which is good.
I live in Westchester county, two miles from the Clintons. Above me is Putnam County. Putnam County voted McCain over Obama in 2008.
That video of the woman in NY speaking out at the school board meting more than a year ago which went viral?? Putnam County.
Except for a few spots, once you get north of Westchester the state is very, very red.
They also did vote Max Rose into the House back in 2018 with anti-Trump sentiment.
I agree- its not a bellweather but the fact she’s up by 6 and will likely win by more is a good sign.
Comparisons between 2020 and 2022 are pointless. New York lost a House district after the 2020 census, and as a result this district got larger by encompassing a bigger section of Brooklyn — which is heavily Democratic compared to Staten Island — on the east side of the Hudson River.
Yep. Cops and firemen.
Yes. Very Republican, occasionally blips for a fraud like Max Rose in a bad year. Rose portrays himself as a moderate veteran and that’s why he was elected. Siena is a garbage poll. I would suspect that Malliotakis is ahead by at least 10, maybe more.
The poll probably sucks. I wouldn't state it as fact.
Siena picked Biden to beat Trump nationally by 9 points on October 6, 2020.
thanks for the NY info. I actually thought that lady n the vid was from Ca
Nassau County should be almost all red on Election Day.
Nope. Rs take at least 35 seats. Maybe 40.
