On October 19, the Russian occupiers dismantled a monument to the victims of the Holodomor in Mariupol. It was established in 2004 in the city center.
This is reported by Censor.NET with reference to the Russian mass media.
Russian construction workers dismantled the monument with the help of a truck crane. And then it was reported that the granite from it will be processed into building materials.
The dismantling of the monument was accompanied by a propaganda video, in which supporters of the occupiers say that they are not fighting against the monument, but against "disinformation at the state level", and that there was no famine in Ukraine. Another collaborator-teacher of the Pryazovsky State Technical University, Olga Shmachkova, said that the residents of Mariupol "shouldn't torment their souls with reminders of the tragedies of the past."
Ah… so the Russians are using BLM tactics now.
Remember gais - they’re not erasing history!

In Mariupol, the Holodomor memorial installed in Ukraine was dismantled
Entry to Mariupol - RIA Novosti, 1920, 10/19/2022
MARIUPOL (DPR), October 19 - RIA Novosti. The authorities of Mariupol dismantled the memorial to the “Victims of the Holodomor”, installed 18 years ago in the city center near the drama theater.
The Mariupol memorial was dismantled on Wednesday morning with the use of a crane, granite will be processed into building materials. The memorial sign was installed in 2004 under the President of Ukraine Leonid Kuchma in a small park on University Street.
On a low rectangular pedestal made of black and red granite, divided into two parts, there are ears of corn tied with a ribbon and tangled scraps of barbed wire. In the first decade of the XXI century, similar memorials appeared in many cities of Ukraine.
In Kiev, such a sign was installed even earlier - in 1993, a stele with a hole in the form of a cross appeared at the wall of the Mikhailovsky Golden-Domed Monastery, in which the figures of the Mother of God and the child are fixed. 15 years later, an extensive museum complex was built near the Kiev Pechersk Lavra.
yawn ... again?
boring
Okay, the Russians are acting like American Democrats...
Are you now denying — in the same breath — the Holodomor and the removal of the monument recognizing it?
Ala the McCarthy hearings: “Have you no sense of decency sir, at long last?”
“In turn, the collaborator, head of the Department of Donetsk National University, Candidate of Historical Sciences Artem Bobrovsky claims that there was no Holodomor in Ukraine.
According to him, it was not Ukraine or Donbass that suffered the most from the famine of 1932-33, but Kazakhstan, the Volga region and the North Caucasus.
Olga Shmachkova, a teacher at the Azov State Technical University, said that residents of Mariupol “should not irritate their souls with reminders of the tragedies of the past.”
We are fighting against disinformation on the state level here in America, too.
What’s the point of posting that nonsense on every thread? Are you denying it happened? 🙄
“Ala the McCarthy hearings: ‘Have you no sense of decency sir, at long last?’”
Not a great quote, as it was used to deflect from the truth about communist influences in the United States. A classic non-answer used to inflame people’s emotions to hide the truth. Right up there with Scoldilocks “How dare you?”
Travis, do you think the Holomodor happened, or do you think the famine caused by Stalin in Ukraine to break resistance to the Soviet government is a myth?
Of course it happened.
“Not a great quote, as it was used to deflect from the truth about communist influences in the United States. A classic non-answer used to inflame people’s emotions to hide the truth.”
I cited the quote, not its context.
Besides being a lawyer, Welch was also an actor (for real). Thus, he played to the audience; it was pure theater and no substance.
Those who know the context know it was theater, and a way to evade the truth.
And now, those who didn’t know the context now know it.

Sad, we have had the same thing happen to our monuments in the US. Could you direct people to where you posted about how terrible it is?
It’s retarded, but they’re probably getting even for the nonstop destruction of monuments to the Russian army in World War II that defeated Hitler. The most spectacular of those was that one in Latvia that looked like a big Washington monument they knocked over. It’s all through Ukraine T 34s on pedestals, soldier monuments etc. Childish, but that’s probably what they are doing, getting even doing it because they know it’ll piss them off. Oh well.
