Most gun owners, including Republican ones, said they support several proposed laws to prevent people with a high risk of violence from accessing guns.
Gun safety organization 97Percent, which touts itself as a bipartisan group of both gun owners and non-gun owners, noted in its report on the research that this defies the current perception that there is an “intractable divide” over gun control in the U.S.
“The myth of an intractable divide in our country is merely that: a myth,” the group said in its report.
More than 70 percent of gun owners said they support laws prohibiting gun possession among those convicted of domestic violence or subject to a domestic violence restraining order, requiring background checks and safety courses for a concealed carry permit, and establishing universal background checks.

"While gun owners supported several gun safety laws, they mostly opposed bans on assault weapons or high-capacity magazines. Only 34 percent said they would support an assault weapons ban and even fewer — 28 percent — said they would support a high-capacity magazine ban.
These proposals, which have been a major talking point for Democrats, are especially unpopular among Republican gun owners, with only 16 percent supporting either ban. About 19 percent of gun owners said they themselves owned a military-style, semi-automatic weapon, according to the report
Want to “reduce shootings”?
Depopulate Chicago.
They’re working on it.
I see America still has a significant opioid problem.
Bipartisan - includes both Bolsheviks and Mensheviks.
Everyone deserves the right to protect themselves, except those currently in prison. A crime is not committed until a weapon is used illegally. There is no need for background checks or any gun restrictions. Those that can’t pass a background check and want to commit a crime still obtain guns. Here’s a healthy hint on how to deal with this: those that commit real crimes are given real sentences and they serve those sentences. Keep them off the streets.
Astroturf!
Remove six major cities from the “gun violence” statistics, and America falls to about 28th rank among nations.
(Direct from "liberal logic")
Until the following is the norm, no more gun control laws the government will enforce selectively or not at all:
End the revolving door/no-cash bail nonsense.
Hold trials within a month of arrest, rather than letting criminals rack up multiple crimes while awaiting trial.
Keep violent and repeat criminals in jail/prison for the duration of their long sentences.
Prosecute felons found in possession of firearms.
Prosecute criminals who steal firearms, buy stolen firearms, and traffick firearms.
When criminals and children commit crimes with illegally obtained weapons, investigate who supplied them, and prosecute the traffickers.
“When I use a word,’ Humpty Dumpty said in rather a scornful tone, ‘it means just what I choose it to mean — neither more nor less.’
Give everyone a gun and ammo.
Within weeks the problem is solved. Kayla are empty. Landfills are fertilized.
“...restraining order, requiring background checks and safety courses for a concealed carry permit, and establishing universal background checks.”
This firearm owner suggest policies like prosecuting and locking up criminals to reduce gun crime.
Wouldn’t that be something?
Until they find out what those things actually mean.
1: EXECUTE MURDERERS upon completion of trial and guilty verdict.
2: APPEALS SHALL ONLY be made upon finding ADDITIONA EVIDENCE that WILL AFFECT the VERDICT.
3: All appeals SHALL be made within 30 days of conviction.
Bull Sh**! Just another example of how to lie with statistics.
I am fully in support of reducing shootings.
Ammunition is still scarce. Aim better, shoot less.
Funny how the “researchers” never seem to think of these things that would stop “gun violence” by icing the perpetrators.
