WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Less than two weeks before the U.S. midterm elections, with Democrats on verge of losing their razor-thin majority in Congress, the party is asking former President Barack Obama to perform some late-game heroics - or at least help limit their losses.
With Biden’s approval among voters hovering at 39% according to the latest Reuters/Ipsos poll, it is the former president, who is assuming the role as the party’s closer in the final days.
“He's probably a better ambassador for swing-state Democrats than Biden is, since he's more popular - especially in the competitive states - and less tied to the current issues on voters' minds," said Jacob Rubashkin, an election analyst with Inside Elections in Washington. "He's also a more natural campaigner."
Dogged by the public’s concerns over inflation and the economy, Biden has been nearly invisible on the campaign trail.
Obama's top objective on his swing is likely to be to mobilize the existing Democratic coalition – Black voters, college-educated suburbanites, Latinos and young voters – to turn out to vote, which historically has been a challenge in midterm elections when a presidential race is not on the ballot.

I have a BS degree in Computer science and I live in rural Hawaii. Vast majority of the world cannot earn such a degree and it irritates me that they all think I can’t be smart enough to earn a living and reside in a very rural setting.
In my estimation it is the idiots that live in cities. Smart people get the heck out of them.

My exodus from Philadelphia area occurred in 1982. That coincided with getting a college education. I haven’t been back for anything more than a day trip. Methinks the entire college educated demographic in polls should be spilt into two categories: those that have “studies” or equivalent degrees and those that have a STEM major. In other words, those that cannot think and those that can.
Anyways, credentialism is overrated. I was a software engineer all my life. What I learned in college, other than how to think, was useless after five years in the workforce. The best succeed by continuous self-learning and doing.
0bama NEVER had any coattails. After winning in Nov 2008 he returned to GA to support the democrat candidate in a runoff election in Dec 2008. He drew about 2,000 people to a rally, and Palin drew about 20,000 at a rally during that same runoff campaign. The candidate 0bama supported lost. In 2010 every candidate he endorsed and campaigned for lost. In 2020 the “rallies” that he held were sparsely attended. So, I’m not worried about 0bama tipping the scales in favor of Fetidman.
