Engineers just think differently...
The optimist sees a glass as half full...
The pessimist sees a glass as half empty...
An engineer sees a glass that is twice as big as it needs to be

In-depth code reviews take time.

I am gaining to go out on a limb here and predict there will be more than a few tattle tails in the wings.

I never used my education classes except to teach adults. I headed the computer society for computer programming languages. Just random teaching opportunities that I enjoyed. Given the right high school, a curriculum could be an incredibly exciting project. And one worthy of writing up. I started a couple of computer language magazines. One of my favorite memories was out of the DoD-I/Ada magazine. My first issue had Bob Mathis’ Ada program on how to take care of his new baby. I loved turning work fun!

Very sturdy limb. Hope of staving off losing a paycheck is going to affect any number of followers, not the arrogant leaders, to not keep their mouths shut. Whether tale bearing would save them is another question. But good psychoanalytical thinking.

Why, of course. Only your own code is worthy

The algorithm is, they look for words like “baseball”, “apple pie” and “Chevrolet” in posts. Then we ban them.

Has Elon wielded the ax? Two ‘data engineers’ claim they have been laid off outside HQ as ‘Chief Twit’ says no accounts will be reinstated without approval of ‘diverse’ content moderation council

He’s trying to make sure the employees aren’t going to sabotage the system. There will be a source code management system, check a module out, make code changes, check it back in. He’s trying to leave any current code changes sitting outside the system.

Smart move on Elon's part. It will also give him a list of the best developers at Twitter. The Tesla guys will rate the quality of code produced by each developer and the hacks will get the sack.

It will also be interesting to see if he can prove fraud on the part of higher ups as to the Bot account issue. He may be able to go after them personally and claw back some of the golden parachute they received

Very worthy. I'm an honest person. Lots of scumbags in management, no matter who you work for. For instance, the managers who wanted me to implicate someone for firing, by going after their emails. I told the jerk that emails are not proof of anything, and showed him how I could spoof his emails to make him look bad - via the sniffers I had on the networks and full access to hundreds of routers. He backed down, and I saved others from harm. Happened many times, more than once. Glad to be retired, away from villains like those at Twitter that got fired.

If the code is locked down prior to an audit, they won’t be able to fix those types of things for a while.

In a way I still miss that zone you can go to for hours and hours but I can’t make myself do it anymore.

Still have my Diet Pepsi addiction though.

Someone mentioned tesla batteries and fire, and as usual, he appears to defend EV vehicles like it’s his job or something.

Guy’s an EV shrill. I’m pretty sure most around here just ignore him.

What he should do is, put a rewards system in place to material(s) implicating the top 4-5 fired execs in any malfeasance. As, they are coming after him, for millions more in severance. You know they all, have clauses in contracts, absolving firm and with zero payout, for malfeasance. If it’s out there, other people know about it; and can provide him the compass, to negate huge severance payouts.

Or they kept that separate and off-site; say at a three-letter agency location.
