Knives out in House GOP whip race over Electoral College abolition
NY Post ^ | Oct. 31, 2022

WASHINGTON — A top House Republican’s little-known past job working with Democrats to change US elections and choose presidents by popular vote threatens to upend his bid to rise in the GOP ranks, The Post has learned.

The three-way House Republican whip race between Reps. Tom Emmer (R-Minn.), Jim Banks (R-Ind.) and Drew Ferguson (R-Ga.) is expected to be the only contested GOP leadership vote and will be settled by secret ballot about a week after the Nov. 8 midterm elections, which Republicans are favored to win.

Emmer, who is regarded as the most moderate option, is overseeing House GOP campaign efforts as chairman of the National Republican Congressional Committee, giving him a potential record of success to cite in his bid.

But Emmer’s opponents say his work about a decade ago as national traveling spokesman for the National Popular Vote initiative casts doubt on his suitability for the role of rallying opposition to President Biden’s agenda.

No real Republican would ever be against the Electoral College. That shows complete ignorance in the framing of our constitution. Inherent in that, there must be a lack of understanding and belief in the how our government is supposed to function. This guy Emmer doesn’t even deserve a committee assignment let alone a leadership position. Whip that.

No way is Emmer acceptable. His past work to overturn the Connecticut Compromise alone should be disqualifying. The fact that they described him as “the most moderate”....meaning he’s a RINO squish....should also be disqualifying.

The only change I can stomach is the Maine (I think) option. Win a district get a vote. Win the state get two. At least red areas in blue states would actually get to “vote” for their candidate.

Remember, they are still in power until Jan 3 2023. Let that sink in.

The Electoral College is our protection against total domination by the urban hordes.

We don’t need moderate RINO pubbies in leadership of the party. Emmer proved where he’s coming from when he advocated against the electoral college.

And it would take a constitutional amendment to change it.

good luck with that!

The article says this is the only GOP post expected to be contested.

This is an outrage.

GOP leadership is a bit of an oxymoron. The party doesn’t want responsive and capable leaders that might actually do something constructive. They just want pliable team players (Swampers) who are beholden to the establishment.

The weakest candidate usually wins.

“meaning he’s a RINO squish”

***************

So you’re saying he has the best chance of winning.

“This is an outrage.”

True, but totally predicable.

Its not as if its “our party” or something.

Its THEIR party. Their club, and we’re not in it.

“Emmer, who is regarded as the most moderate option, is overseeing House GOP campaign efforts as chairman of the National Republican Congressional Committee”

Which is why real GOP Conservatives cannot rely on that commmitee for help.

He’d be a safer RINO if we could prove he formerly castrated himself.

Can he offer up the evidence?

That’s why I’m hoping to get enough MAGA winners next Tuesday who see what’s going on up there in the OUT HOUSE on Crapitol Hill and will thwart these RINO’s, seek a NEW line of leaders which doesn’t include McCARTHY or Turtle in any leadership position!! Lord let it be........

Amen. It’s the only defense against a tyranny of the majority concentrated in urban centers.

Covid showed us the dangers of living on top of one another and dependence upon public transit in the New York lifestyle the Dems would love to force upon us all. It also showed us the national security risk of open borders and supply chain reliance on foreign goods for critical items. Trump understood this: “Buy and hire American.” Unfortunately we’re back to business as usual.

Mutually beneficial trade is not xenophobic, it’s prudent and self protection. Over dependence on an ideological enemy like China out of greed is foolish.

Emmer is a HARD NO if he’s not had a true epiphany over the insanity that is the National Popular Vote concept. Unfortunately we probably can’t trust him if he says he’s “grown” on the issue because it might be a scam to get into power.

The nominations are carried out by the lame duck congress.
The elections for those positions will be held by the new congress next January.
Do you think a floor fight in Jan would be in the best interest of the nation?
In the case of a Republican win, a split within the GOP during that election, *could* lead to a RAT getting in.
