CPAC Chairman to Newsmax: 'Silly' to Blame Trump for GOP Setbacks
NewsMax ^

CPAC Chairman Matt Schlapp told Newsmax on Monday that it's "silly" to blame former Donald Trump for the disappointing performance of Republicans in last week's midterm elections.

Schlapp told Newsmax's "Wake Up America" that "Trump's batting average on his candidates were better than almost anybody's and that "to blame Donald Trump [for the poor results] is silly."

Schlapp also supports Trump's desire to run for the White House again, saying: "If Donald Trump feels like he has the energy and the vision to run for president, he absolutely should do it. I love the man. His policies helped transform the country."

Schlapp conceded that it would be "risky" for Trump to declare his candidacy now, saying that "we're still in this Herschel Walker win-or-lose phase ... but I think when you are a candidate and you know what you are going to do, waiting is usually not your friend."

Schlapp also lamented the continued uncertainly of many election races, saying: "I find it outrageous in the leading country in the world that we're still counting ballots" six days after the election.

He also asked why "Republicans lose 80% of these races every time it [the counting] goes into extra innings?"

Schlapp insisted that on Election Day, "Republicans went to vote and thousands and thousands of them, even if they went to went to multiple polling places, the polling machines weren't working. We'll never know how many thousands of Republicans went back home" without voting.

He added that ballot harvesting is ripe in places like Nevada, where Democrats are in virtual control of the process.

This system allows a person to turn in someone else's ballot, such as in nursing homes, without proper supervision, with Schlapp stating it "it is ripe with the ability to also have fraud —

I don’t blame him for the losses. I just wish he hadn’t become such a dick lately.

I wonder why this big coordinated attack to get rid of Trump didn’t happen before the Election?

They want MAGA money donations.

I would vote for him if he wins the nomination, but think a realistic assessmenet must be made if he could win given the devisiveness which follows him.

Trump himself decides to go nuclear on anyone and everyone who doesn’t worship him and his disciples here twist it to say it’s a coordinated attack on him.

Bizarre.

Doesn’t the RNC have a committee that plans strategies? Isn’t McConnell the one who raises and dispenses money? It is the ones whose job it is to do these things who are shifting the blame from themselves to Trump, who is a private citizen who has been tied up fighting off lawsuits, subpoenas, FBI/DoJ and house “investigations”. But he did manage to stage numerous rallies, telerallies, and fundraising events which raised about $300 MILLION which was split between candidates, RNC, and his PAC which spent about $15 MILLION on candidates. I’m not sure what more he could have done.

Maybe they are suggesting that he should have just stayed home and not done any of those things.

Trump may have been a factor, but certainly not the only one.

I just saw a chart comparing the spending of the two parties on their candidates. The Dem spending per candidate ranged from 3x as much to 10x as much.

I don't think we would be talking about setbacks without the unrealistic expectations of the 'red wave' which was probably created by left wing pollsters.

I think we just might be satisfied with the gains we made and use them as a stepping stone to 2024.

Instead I see most people on this site pointing fingers and blame about the 'huge loss'.

“… Senator Fetterman winks”
***********************I*I****

I know he doesn’t officially have a medical degree or license but I’m going to try to have Fetterman do surgery on my bum shoulder before he takes office and doesn’t have time. What could go wrong? After all, he’s as competent to do surgery as he is to be a Senator. /s

Aside from the obvious democrat cheating the biggest factor was Biden’s last minute “Republicans are going to take away your Medicare and Social Security” scare tactic. It works every time! Republicans don’t seem to understand how many voters will change their side if they think there is a chance it will happen. The Republican Party should rebrand itself as the Pro Social Security Party by publicly pushing for big increased in Social Security and cost free Medicare. Walker should be pushing it right now big time and I am positive he will win if he does.

I think a lot of it was the nasty and evils on the left coming out angry that they might not be able to sacrifice children for their narcissistic lifestyles...at least have some dampers put on it.

“...and his disciples here twist it to say it’s a coordinated attack on him.”

You mean the Russian hoax, the impeachment hoax was not a coordinated attack? That is just to name a few.

disciples??? The only politician who asks for disciples is the present governor of New York.

You seem to be an expert on being stupid and pissy and snotty. I am amazed at how universally pissy all you Trump haters are. It is amusing and boring.

I, too, am waaay beyond weary of President Trump bashing to any degree. He hasn't changed since . . . ever; so, what's the point?

His successes as President are indisputable, and his behavior before 2016 was well documented. . . ENOUGH ALREADY regarding the collective's PDJT pet peeves.

Defeating the COMMIE-COMRADE-DEVIL-crats should be the ONLY focus for now and until they are no longer a threat.
