It is common for gun control zealots to bloviate about how the United States is such a violent country, and others such as Canada’s dictator in chief Justin Trudeau using the crime rate in the United States as justification to seize firearms from his citizenry.
And yes, the United States is ranked third when it comes to our murder rate.
Now, want to know a dirty little secret? If you remove the following cities—Chicago, Detroit, Washington, DC, St. Louis and New Orleans—from the equation, the land of the free and home of the brave slips all the way down to 189 out of 193.
So what gives? Democrats want to take guns away from an overwhelming majority of law-abiding, God-fearing citizens because five Democrat-run cities can’t control their population?
Heck, New York City and Philadelphia aren’t even included on that list. Add them in and we’re probably swimming with the fishes.
So what gives? Well in at least three of them, there are George Soros-funded soft-on-crime DAs there. All one has to do is watch the news or look online and the evidence is there for all to see.
For example in New York City, Manhattan DA Alvin Bragg continues to let violent criminals out on the streets, many out before the ink on the arrest report is dry. Then the offender often is caught again committing a violent crime, only for the cycle to repeat itself—wash, rinse, repeat.
In Chicago, DA Kim Foxx, when she’s not busy slapping her husband around, has a virtual revolving-door policy when it comes to even the most violent criminals in the city. The result has been out-of-control violent crime and murder rates which again threaten the record books.
So what is the common denominator? They’re all run by Democrats. It matters not how much money is directed to feel good programs, or improving schools, or criminal justice reform. The results are the same.
The elephant in the room in many of these communities is the fact there is no male influence in the family, so the young boys and men get their influence from gang-banging thugs, who for some of them is the only “family” they have. But you cannot talk about that, the whole “male-dominant society” thing and all.
For the most part, crime has been relegated to the big cities and overall that is still the case, although there has been a bit of “crime creep” out into the suburbs. However the crime rates in those suburbs when compared to their big city neighbors is statistically near zero.
According to the Global Peace Index, indeed the United States currently ranks 128th as far as being the safest country in the world. Murder is obviously a huge factor in those statistics.
The big cities in the U.S. and clearly most of the major cities are run by Democrats, who are quick to ask for government help but very slow to put that help to good use. Despite years and years of complaining that nothing is being done, with literally trillions of dollars infused to help mitigate those problems, we are literally spinning our wheels.
Much is made by leftists about “right-wing” groups using social media to organize, but have you looked on Twitter lately? Terrorist gangs such as Antifa routinely use the app to organize their “terrorize and run” umbrella attacks on people with whom they disagree.
Yet the only censorship we hear about from social media companies is “far-right extremist” groups such as the Proud Boys. Yet, Antifa and Black Lives Matter are free to use any platform they wish to perpetrate their violence.
The other issue is left-leaning media excuses violence coming from radical leftists. We still remember back to the summer of 2020, with a reporter from we believe ABC News talking about “peaceful protests” as buildings burned behind him. This scene was repeated numerous times. We were told not to believe what we were actually watching.
When a mass casualty event happens, the media will typically fly off the handle and in the case of, for example, a shooting, immediately speculate it had to be a “right-wing extremist.”
If it turns out that once again, they got it wrong, they engage in a version of radio silence. If in fact the event is carried out by someone from a favored demographic, such as the terrorist attack on a Christmas parade in Waukesha, Wisconsin last year, the media turns deaf, dumb and blind.
There are a number of factors of course playing into the increased crime, and soft-on-criminal DAs are only part of the problem. More recently, the current economic situation, with skyrocketing prices on everything from gasoline to food and consumables have led to desperation.
The current economic malaise perpetrated by terrible decisions from the Biden administration and most recently Congress with their bizarrely named “Inflation Reduction Act” is only leading to the crime increase.
Adding in the current recession into the economic disruption caused by the Wuhan virus and it isn’t a wonder we’re at the place where we are. And what has followed is exploding crime and exploding murder rates. Here is an example, all Democrat-run cities, with murders per 100,000 residents:

So while Democrats and far-left gun-grabbers claim the United States is one of the most violent countries in the world, it’s all a matter of perspective. Remove the Democrat-run hell holes from the list, even just the five biggest and the rate is almost infinitesimal.

Another major flaw is the fact that after criminals are being arrested, they are being set free with few to no charges, allowing them back out on the streets to commit their crimes again.

A rare case of corrolation IS causation.
Former mayor Ray Nagin would refer to them as "chocolate cities". Dark chocolate.
A book written several years ago, “The Color of Crime”, was vilified and the author labeled racist for the statistics he used to make his point. The demographics are obvious.
This claim seems to have no basis in math. The US has far from the third highest murder rate in the world to start with and taking out those five cities only makes a marginal (<10%) difference in the per capita murder rate nation wide
There are consequences for voting Democrat.
Even if Republicans controlled those cities, the people would still be killing each other until the underlying cause is addressed.

I dug through the statistics about 45 minutes ago and reached precisely the same conclusion-—though I would add that it did look like taking those five out would drop it by about 9%. Thanks for writing what I didn’t bother to but is worth writing.

Embarrassed? Put on a dress and swish around for us. Mexican cartels send drugs to those cities. The drugs are distributed by local black gangs, and BY FAR they together are responsible for nearly all of the murders in America.
Alone, the black murderer demographic of less than 1% is responsible for half the murders in America. If you can’t discuss it, you can’t fix it.

Years ago there was a debate on gun control between Orin Hatch and Jesse Jackson. Jesse droned on and on how guns hurt black people and we need strong gun control laws. After about 20 minutes of emotional, albeit factless, diatribe, Hatch look at Jackson and said: “If we remove violent gun crimes committed by blacks between the ages of 18 and 35, the US would rank below Switzerland in violent gun crimes.”

The United States can really be divided up into three types of places. Places where there are no murders, places where there are a few murders, and places where murders are very common.
In 2014, the most recent year that a county-level breakdown is available, 54% of counties (with 11% of the population) have no murders. 69% of counties have no more than one murder, and about 20% of the population. These counties account for only 4% of all murders in the country.
The worst 1% of counties have 19% of the population and 37% of the murders. The worst 2% of counties contain 28% of the population and 51% of the murders. The worst 5% of counties contain 47% of the population and account for 68% of murders. But even within those counties the murders are very heavily concentrated in small areas...
