As 2022 nears an end, another election season has also come to a close. Time for second thoughts, and ideas about what to do to fix an election system that many Americans believe is irretrievably broken. As it turns out, voters have some very strong opinions about that very topic, the latest I&I/TIPP Poll shows.
The recent midterm elections were once again marked by claims of voter fraud and possible ballot manipulation behind the scenes by partisan actors, including even election officials. So we asked Americans of all political stripes and demographic backgrounds what rules and practices would they support to make our electoral system more fair?
More specifically, in our online I&I/TIPP Poll, taken from Dec. 7-9, we asked 1,094 registered voters to select among three possible reforms or rule changes: “Requiring voters to show a photo I.D. to vote,” “Stricter mail-in voting,” and “Banning ballot harvesting.”
The answers showed an overwhelming sentiment in favor of change.
But by far the strongest response was for “Requiring voters to show a photo I.D. to vote.” It garnered 83% support from registered voters, with 60% saying they would support it “strongly” and 22% saying they would support it “somewhat.” Just 12% said they would not support a move, with just 6% saying they would oppose it “strongly,” about the same as those who said they would oppose it somewhat (7%).

Thanks. I borrowed that from Victor Davis Hanson. He’s been driving that point home a lot lately. It hadn’t occurred to me until he pointed it out.
Requiring all voters to provide photo identification at their voting place in order to vote
Favor: 80%
Oppose: 19%
'Progressive' left Democrats are an anomaly among basically the entire world. Pretty much everyone else in the U.S. and other countries supports ID to vote.
Yeah, as my father-in-law said, people in Hell want ice water too.
You live in Government Class Oligarchy with fascist tendencies. What “the people” want is completely meaningless. The people in America get what their ruling masters give them. Nothing more.
The cow has already left the barn.
Instead of an election holiday, why not have voting on weekends. Polls are open for 24 hours from noon Saturday to noon Sunday.
Agree. I wonder how many illegals who Biden let in “OUR USA” voted? Most here recall when a felon was never to vote.
That is true that the Constitution gave the Senators and Potus to the states to decide. But from the beginning, a vote was held by all states to choose electors for President...an advice to the states, in a way.
And until dumblecrats decided in 2016 that they just didn’t need to abide by the decisions of the People for their electors, the system worked fairly well. Even popular votes for Senators. I do wish it reverted back to Senators picked by the states as originally written.
Prop 309 tried to fix this in AZ.
Requiring more voter info on mail-in ballots.
I thought it was show in. No, it lost narrowly?!
That’s quite suspicious to me?!
Yes!
That will be great!
Unfortunately the Dems will fight this tooth and nail!
They need cheating to get in power!
Too late. Those days are gone. The RATS own all the black-robed tyrant “judges”.
Too bad the government doesn’t give a damn what the voters want.
I’m not a huge fan of polling since it can always be manipulated but “support for voter ID laws” has been consistently over 80% for years. I tend to think that’s pretty accurate.
Paper ballots and hand counted…
Even this will not stop the fake ballots….
How do you think the democrats run cities for fifty years…
People stopped voting because they know the elections are fixed
And now, Massachusetts.
"a vote was held by all states to choose electors for President"
The Constitution wasn't ratified until the year after George Washington won the first election, so Washington didn't necessarily have official constitutional electors. I think Pennsylvania used the popular vote for Washington.
The states that continued winner-take-all laws for POTUS haven't read the Constitution that they ratified and then swore to protect and defend.
"And until dumblecrats decided in 2016 that they just didn’t need to abide by the decisions of the People for their electors,"
Probably many citizens don't understand that the states have never expressly constitutionally given ordinary voters the specific power to vote for POTUS, voters wrongly believing that they control who the president is.
I wouldn't be surprised if activist states used this "loophole" as an excuse to cheat the ballot box.
"I do wish it reverted back to Senators picked by the states as originally written."
ALL the states can effectively "secede" from the unconstitutionally big federal government by repealing the 16th (direct taxes) and 17th (ordinary citizen vote for federa senators) Amendments (16&17A), repealing them faster than Pelosi irresponsibly rammed unconstitutional Obamacare through the House if they want to.
If the repeal 16&17A amendment was strictly limited to that purpose, then relatively little or ideally no discussion would be needed imo.
Yes and every state votes on the same day.
I was a democrat most of my life.
I know democrats do voter fraud. They’re the party of criminals and large city hellholes. I have no clue why anyone would think they wouldn’t cheat.
When gullible members of the press go out to talk to voters they choose white upper class or white middle class precincts. That’s NOT where the democrat ‘base’ is... The press needs to send their people into the heart of the democrat base - the inner city black community - places where ‘theoretically’ there are times when 90% + citizens vote. And no, I’m not blaming blacks - but the same white ‘elites’ who told the lie the black community wanted to ‘defund’ cops... the people who ‘speak for’ the real black community - but with lies.
The veteran is the one who has given part of, if not their life in total, to ensure you have the right to vote.
How about giving up Mother’s Day?
You can’t vote your way out of systemic vote fraud.
