“The Russians are very capable of backing up that threat. They have developed a range of very low yield battlefield tactical nukes and a doctrine on how to use them to win wars while keeping under the threshold for a strategic nuclear response.”

That’s insanity. IF the Russians are considering tactical nuclear weapons they are loosing the war, and want to destroy the entire biosphere on their way out. There is no controlled tactical nuclear weapon release, it’s a guess that your opponent will not quickly acquire and deploy it’s own nukes.

This war is stupid. We have a corrupt Ukrainian government, involved in money laundering for Democrats, some Republicans, with CIA biological labs on one side. On the other, we have a bunch of old people living in an era that no longer exists, which are even more corrupt.

The only people I support in this entire event are the poor farmers and working people who are caught in between. Escalating this conflict is even more stupid and dangerous.

Russians, Ukrainians, and the world needs peace. Frankly, it’s simple. Russia withdraws it’s people from Ukrainian territory, and Ukraine honors non-aggression with Russia by divesting itself of US based ‘secret’ projects. There should be ‘inspections’ allowed by Ukraine to prove no biological labs, nuclear missiles from the west, or offensive capability from the west.

Someone call Trump and let him get it solved.

“Ukraine is not a member of NATO.”

You managed to quote the part about Russia attacking NATO states by contaminating them with nuclear fallout but you didn’t realize what it meant?

“Russia needs to centralize their messages.”

Lavrov is the bad cop to Putin’s good cop. They always do this, talk out of both sides of their mouth.

Russia knows the situation on the battlefield. Ukraine does, too.

The media does not. Be it RT or MSNBC, they do not know.

Western military analysts say Russia is not fighting for territory as a priority vs creating Ukraine casualties. These Western people note that Russia retreats whenever satellite recon shows they do not have a local advantage.

As has been true from day 1, this is the first war in the history of mankind where both sides have excellent satellite recon. The spacecraft common links reach Russia when overhead in Ukraine, providing near real time imagery. American recon must use NATO country relays back to the Pentagon, for transfer to Kiev. Not much more than an hour, if that.

Point being, there are no surprises. Russia does not lose many troops because they are withdrawn from anywhere vulnerable.

Ukraine largely cannot do this. Western supplies depend on them not losing territory. So they must endure casualties.

I don’t see how this reality can fail for Russia. Satellites have changed warfare. Battles are not fought if imagery shows disadvantage, unless politics forces commanders to order deaths.

The Russians will sooner kill themselves off before the Ukes quit the fight. The Ukrainians are fighting for their country, their homes, their families and their lives. The Russians are “fighting” for a Putin’s ego. The Russians and their propaganda toadies can cheerlead all they want, but it will not end well for them.

Agreed. Ukrainians will never surrender. Russias crimes against humanity in Ukraine made that impossible.

There is a possible peace plan though, here is what I suggest :

1 - Russia has to surrender Crimea and Donbas back to Ukraine.

2 - Respect the signatory’s independence and sovereignty in the existing borders.

3 - Refrain from the threat or the use of force against Ukraine.

4 - Refrain from economic coercion designed to subordinate to their own interest the exercise by Ukraine of the rights inherent in its sovereignty and thus to secure advantages of any kind.

5 - Refrain from the use of nuclear arms against the signatory.
Consult with one another if questions arise regarding those commitments.

>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

You recognized this ?
Its the Budapest Memorandum that was violated by the Kremlin-Nazis.
I added point “1” obviously.
An extra point should be added as well : war reparations.
Discussions about how much Russia must pay to repair what they destroyed in Ukraine and helping the families of the victims. Negotiate between 1 trillion and 3 trillion dollars. Maybe exporting to Ukraine free oil for a few decades?

“Meanwhile, in the real world, Russia is the country that no other country trusts because they have broken every agreement they ever made, just about.”

Seems to me that LOTS of countries trust Russia to keep their word. China has multiple gas pipeline agreements, and plans to have more. Even Japan trusts Russia as they’re jointly developing an LNG operation. Syria, of course, trusts Russia, as Russia saved them from a US-sponsored genocide (how many countries has the US left to be crushed? Quite a few).

And for this war, Russia has made their case to the rest of the world (the 85% or so not run by the Neocons), which is why ONLY the West is imposing ‘sanctions’ on them.

The question that I have is why did the Neocons drag-out Merkel to make her statement? About the only thing that I can think of was the situation just before her statement was talk about Germany working towards a settlement, and that the Neocons wanted none of that, so they had Merkel scuttle it (and before that, when Germany was also making noises about ending the war, the West took out the pipeline).

That's the $64,000 question of the day, no doubt, and your guess is as good as any. The opposite alternative could be that the West is calculating a near full defeat of Russia soon, and is rubbing their nose in it. I sort of doubt that possibility, based on reports Putin just expanded his default army size by another 500,000.

Did you catch the predictions by Medvedev yesterday, one being that a new "Fourth Reich" will form between Germany, Poland, and a few other neighbors, that would then wage war against France, and possibly Britian? Sounds pretty crazy, to us over here, and more like a Russian wet dream, but maybe that is what's actually happening over there.

He also predicted a US civil war, however, which I don't actually believe we're anywhere actually near, as sad as that might make some. As I said it all sounded more like a Russian wet dream, than anything that would actually be good for any of us, at least in my opinion.

Just restating Russia's emerging military doctrine. They claim they have developed a new generation of micro nukes to complement their inventory of strategic nuclear weapons. They feel that the micro nukes are small enough to be sub threshold for a large scale strategic response given the Russians ability to mount a massive large scale nuclear response. They feel that they can use them to win in theater level conflicts. They may be right. As a practical matter, it really does matter how anyone else feels about the merits of their strategy- it only depends on whether or not they believe they can get away with it and their willingness to use them.

If Zelensky tried to “surrender” then he would be booted out by the Ukrainian people.

is ‘booted’ the polite way of saying hung or shot?

While were throwing cash around, maybe we should give Putin $45 billion and see if he gives up?

I don’t want this war or the crap that is going to follow it to “rebuild” Ukraine. Ukraine has already got their sweaty wad of cash.

A nuke of any size going off near the border of a Baltic State or Poland, would do the trick - you see there is such a thing as fallout and the right wind shift at the right moment could well push it onto NATO territory. The person in charge is whoever is running the country effected.

"Russia attacking NATO states by contaminating them with nuclear fallout?" Reread my post - anyone who believes a rational leader would respond to wind-blown "fallout" by using additional nuclear weapons, and thereby risk national annihilation, has more mental challenges than the guy in the White House...

“The Russians are very capable of backing up that threat.”

So why don’t they do it rather than suffer humiliating loses om the battlefield?

The answer is simple - they can’t really back it up. Oh, they have nukes galore, but they can’t really use them.
