There has been one killing each day for the first day of the
year. That telegraphs gang activity to me. I may be off
base. If so, this might not apply.
The idea of small groups to form self-defense networks is
intended to stop gang members from being able to retaliate
if someone tells on them. If someone sees a drive-by
license, and tells the police, there may be an attempt to
institute revenge.
Not looking for someone to patrol or form vigilante groups.
These groups would only spring into action if a neighbor
were to come under attack.
I believe those guys in the incident you mentioned, were
simply racists. If you see it differently, mention it.
I don’t condone what they did at all. Holding the guy for
police would be the only thing they should have done, and
then only if they had direct knowledge he participated in
a crime.
They allowed their baser instincts to take charge, and they
are going to pay a very high price. It won’t be as high as
the one he paid.
This truly angers me.
I remember that case.IIRC there was evidence that strongly suggested that he was stealing stuff from houses that were under construction around there. Copper is valuable and it’s being stolen from many places...including EV charging stations and homes under construction.
