Chicago — Chicago police who executed a search warrant in Humboldt Park allegedly found a man who works full time as a violence interrupter naked under a bed with $50,000 cash on the floor, suspected narcotics in the room, and a gun on the kitchen window sill, officials said.
Jerel Taylor, 30, is charged with unlawful use of a weapon by a felon, possession of heroin, and possession of a controlled substance in the wake of the Friday morning search warrant execution in Humboldt Park. Judge Mary Marubio ordered him to pay $500 toward bail to get out of jail.
Chicago police raided the apartment in the 1100 block of North Avers around 8 a.m. and found the loaded pistol on the kitchen window ledge next to bags of suspected crack cocaine before making their way to a nearby bedroom, prosecutors said during Taylor’s bail hearing.
A woman seated on the bed told officers there was no one else in the room, but cops allegedly saw Taylor’s feet sticking out from under the bed and “removed him,” according to prosecutors. Prosecutors added that $50,000 in cash was also on the floor.
Because Taylor was naked, officers asked him where his clothes were, and they allegedly found suspected heroin next to his pants. More crack was allegedly found on a bedside table, along with Taylor’s driver’s license.
Taylor’s record includes five felony convictions for narcotics-related offenses since 2018, according to prosecutors.
His attorney said he lives in the home with his mom, sister, and brother, so he may not be responsible for the items the police said they found in the apartment.
Taylor is a high school graduate who works full time for a safe street patrol in Humboldt Park, the lawyer said, adding that he also works for the CeaseFire anti-violence group.
He is scheduled to be in court again on Friday.
The Wikipedia article may be somewhat biased, but will give you the general idea.
And they found him with at least two types of "suspected" drugs ...
How's that famous "war on drugs" going, guys?
We have all learned it from the Clintons.
Whatever crime you are committing, first - accuse others of that crime. Second, get involved with an organization that collects money to promote the exact opposite
What Color would this hero be??
Hey, it’s a DemocRAT run city. In such a septic environment, such an individual is considered to be a first-class, law abiding citizen.
CeaseFire is an anti-Second Amendment group dedicated to disarming honest citizens. No surprise they have criminals working for them.
“ Judge Mary Marubio ordered him to pay $500 toward bail to get out of jail.”
Here’s the real crime.
L
Jerel, Jerel, Jerel. How could you?
Everyone at the top of CeaseFire is a criminal. The rank and file members are just too gullible to figure that out.
Nailed it.
Oh, it’s a cottage-industry insider position!
Got it!
“What is a violence interrupter?”
Well, they are basically a “go between” between the cops and the street gangs. And they don’t hire squeaky clean model citizens for the job. I think pretty much all of them are “ex” gang members (which is a joke, since you don’t leave a gang except in a casket).
WTF is a violence interrupter? Don’t people have real jobs anymore? I honestly have more respect for ditch diggers. I’m not sure how to write that without sounding condescending, really I’m not. I was raised in a family that valued work, for the sake of work. It didn’t have to be prestigious, but it had to require effort.
Whatever these commies say or do they are doing the opposite.
Well, it should be easy. He was hiding under the bed with his feet sticking out. LOL.
Yeah, that makes perfect sense. Who else has more to gain than a criminal from disarming law abiding citizens?
Out on low or no bail. Charges quietly dropped. You just know it’s coming.
Here’s the real crime.
Yup. A guy with $50,000 in cash money laying around the house should pay at least $1,000 to get out of jail...
