Failure to comply with the letter in the given time frame would result in a suspension of “all licenses” held by the company “specific to the business location where the unauthorized alien(s) performed work.” In cases where they do not have a license specific to the business location where the illegal alien worked, the licenses held by the company at its “primary place of business” will be suspended.
The letter was sent to several companies, including Prestige Cruise Services LLC, Upperline Health Inc, and the American National Red Cross. The deadline is Monday, January 16.
Jeremy Redfern, deputy press secretary for Gov. Ron DeSantis, told The Center Square that the Sunshine State is “cracking down on the unlawful employment of unauthorized aliens in the state of Florida”:
Companies that have not affirmed that all employees have passed E-Verify and are authorized to work in the United States are given an opportunity to cure the issue and so affirm. Six companies have failed to do so after repeated notices and are subject to the suspension of their licenses to operate their business in the state. They have been issued final notices of non-compliance.
The DeSantis administration is no stranger to touting E-Verify in the state. In 2021, the administration hung signs on all major interstate highways entering Florida, informing travelers that the state, indeed, uses E-Verify.
DeSantis added that the use of E-Verify places “upward pressure [on] Floridians’ wages” and protects public safety.
“Assuring a legal workforce through E-Verify is crucial to upholding the rule of law and deters illegal immigration into Florida, which is more important than ever given the border crisis,” he added.
A post-election Rasmussen Reports/NumbersUSA poll found that national midterm election voters support nationwide action on U.S. employers hiring illegal aliens.

Good.
Well, Obama was prosecuting businesses who refused to hire illegal aliens. Be interesting to see what happens when the Biden DOJ weighs in on this.
This.
Excellent!
Bout time somebody did something about this. Sad that it’s taken this long for a leader to step up, but I’m grateful.
DeSantis is walking the walk, not tweeting the tweet.
I’ve kept I-9’s on every employee hired since 1988. No one has ever audited them. This is what government should be focusing on, not LGBQWERTY and other outlandish schemes.
Good-
This should have been done when E-VErify first came out.
“Sad that it’s taken this long for a leader to step up, but I’m grateful.”
DeSantis signed the e-Verify law in 2020.
He is firing on all cylinders!
Greg Abbott to follow suit in 3,2,1. “Me,too!”
It’s about damn time.
IF DeSantis can get this to spread across the USA-—HE IS GOLD.
I was a payroll supervisor for a fairly large company. FORM I-9 HAD TO BE filled in with proper documentation or I refused to put new hire on payroll. Prior supervisor had been very lax.
Pissed off alot of remote managers of operations-—BUT it was MY SIGNATURE on quarterly & ANNUAL reports to state & IRS...AND workmen’s Comp Insurance reports. ...NOT theirs.
One manager sent me a W-4 for kid—18—with 9 exemptions. I called—EXPLAIN, this, LUCY-—
He said the kid was single, but he was sending $$$$ back to Mexico for family...
I explained to him that he could NOT exempt income taxes on persons who were NOT in the USA-—family he was supporting in USA—OK—BUT NOT in MEXICO-—
I opened up a hornet’s nest. He fought with me. Company had a LABOR RELATIONS group on retainer. I Called them. They agreed with me. I got it in writing on their letterhead.
Manager was still pissed at me, but I told him to clean up the rest of his records on the rest of his crew or else. Meanwhile, I put the first offender I caught on payroll at Single-1.
They can put down 8 exemptions without pressure-—but at 9, I HAVE to send a copy of the W-4 directly to the IRS.
I would bet money that at least 80% of companies hiring illegals have not even attempted to get I-9 form filled out.
I have some concerns about Trump. A number of his past appointments were disasters. Poor judgement on personnel may continue being a problem for him (and us). Trumps embrace of LGBTQ tells me that he's not led by Truth. If Trump becomes a 2nd term president, maintaining support for a re-election would no longer be a concern for him. Would a lame-duck Trump bring out in him more liberal/elite/establishment colors/positions? I wonder.
Conservative policy and Christian value wise - how do DeSantis and Trump compare? I suppose this question should be directed to Florida FReepers, who know DeSantis best.
Meanwhile-—Biden is trying to declare HE can give them ALL SPECIAL status to work in USA.
Floridians are doing so much winning with DeSantis, they're going to get tired of winning!
Hopefully after 2024, the rest of us can remember what it feels like to get tired of winning again because I'll tell you what, I've definitely gotten tired of losing.
Exhibit A - Trump letting Pence and Dr Fauci and Scarf Lady destroy the USA and millions of jobs and businesses and Lives based on taking advice from
THREE KNOWN DC Never Trumpers with two being well known Dem activists .
We need a Very Hands On Leader not a twitter who sells trading cards of himself .
