A Hummer EV (electric vehicle) reportedly takes days to charge when plugged into a standard wall outlet, a YouTuber claims.
TFLEV, a channel dedicated to showcasing electric vehicles, shared video footage on Sunday of the GMC Hummer EV that boasts the largest battery you can buy, the person behind the camera said.
“It’s Sunday morning and let’s see how long it takes to charge it just using the truck’s charger and plugging it into a standard wall outlet,” he continued before attaching the charger to the vehicle’s plug.

Buy 5 of them and you have one ready each day.
But EV’s are the fuuuuutuuuuure.
Just not a good future.
The Milage est is @ 300/ per full charge.
It would be interesting to know..
How much does it cost to “fill up”?
And what is the cost/ mile?
Or, as the article says, get a Level 2 charger.
He should use the USB port with the two lightening bolts. 🤪👍
Therein lies the rub. It's the equivalent of if an ICE car hater said: "Let me prove to you how bad ICE cars are. I'm going to show you how long it takes to fill up this large pickup's gas tank using a coffee stir straw."
I’ll buy an electric vehicle when it can be charged as fast as an internal combustion engine vehicle can be gassed-up at a gas station.
Buy a team of mules to pull it.
“According to Car and Driver, the 2023 GMC Hummer EV SUT’s pricing starts at $87,000...”
And then eventually.......there’s that minor battery replacement issue. 😏
“plugging it into a standard wall outlet”
Is that the way you are supposed to do it?
“What a joke for all that money”
It will outrun and outgun whatever you are driving!
I just use the cigarette lighter charge adapter on mine.
No.
Not sure it’ll out run my brother’s Mach E GT.
That car is amazing
How much did it speed up the electric meter. I would have liked to have a video of it throwing off sparks.
That's accounting for engine and drive train inefficiencies.
In order to transfer electrical energy — at a similar rate — from a charging station into an electric vehicle of similar size, each charging station would need to supply 4000 hp of electrical energy into your car battery in order to charge it up in the same time it takes to fill your tank on a typical SUV or minivan.
Thus, each charging station would require essentially the equivalent one locomotive engine behind it, if you could actually see the source of the power you're moving into your car at the rate you get it from an ordinary gas pump at your nearby gas station.
The wires necessary to move energy at this rate would be about is big around as a baseball bat, and you'd need two of them.
That's if they had batteries that could take a charge that fast. Which they don't.
My solution stimulates the economy much much more. :)
Good to see Hummer getting back to their roots of being ridiculous. They started too big for garages, parking lots, and even some roads. And now they’re too big for your electricity supply. Hummer, the car for people with more money than sense.
In fairness, buying an EV Hummer without having the fastest charger available is like buying a Lambo without having a garage.
The Hummer is a specialty car meant for a small segment of the auto market. It will work fine for that segment, like all specialty cars, be they EV or ICE.
