Look, with one egg farm going up I might think it was insurance fraud because internal vets found evidence of a bird flu or something like that and the payout would be bigger with a fire on heavily insured buildings.
But ... genetically enhanced chickens that could be still introduced without the disruptions?
Only if the fires are at the hands of those selling the superbirds rather than thpse raising them.

Those poor girls. If the general conditions at egg farms weren’t bad enough, then they have this happen to them.
Our hens have their own house and a protected yard containing boulders and other sturdy places to play on, and they get daily attention and cuddles.
Not everyone is in a position to do this, but it gives me the opportunity to care for few I can. I always thank them for the eggs and tell them what good girls they are.
They bring their own brand of sunshine into this world.
Life is not cranky this way.

I’m not saying it’s true, but that it makes more sense than a plot to deprive citizens of eggs and chicken or to slowly kill folks over several decades.
There are approximately 400 million layers in The U.S (not including backyard hens). A farm in Iowa alone has over 20 million hens.
Another in Mississippi was projected to have 400,000 cage-free hens by January 2023. Which are in addition to regular layers.
These fires and bird flu barely effect supply. It’s a manufactured crisis. It’s fear porn.
