As misguided as Trump’s petty attacks are, it appears the only motivation is to warn DeSantis what he’s facing should he decide to run. Scare him off.

But, it seems very conceivable that DeSantis might think; I don’t want any part of this. I’m very happy in Florida.
I've long thought DeSantis would run in '24 and still do, after Florida's legislature ties up some loose ends.
But now he almost has to. He'd look like a giant p*ssy if he didn't run now. He'd look like he was bending the knee to Trump. It would be humiliating.
He'd be finished politically.
So what happens if DeSantis doesn’t run, then what?

I think it is. He got away with the petty name calling in 2016 because it caught people by surprise......it very well may work against him this time.
As far as Governor DeSantis being very happy in Florida.......we ALL are.
I constantly hear people refer to Trump’s behavior as petty. They miss the point. With Trump his “pettiness” is a tactic. Trump is perfectly able to be civil with his opponents, even enemies, when the situation calls for it. He uses these “petty” attacks as a way to level the playing field. For every voter he may turn off, he gains 2 or 3 who hate politics and its hypocrisy and admire Trump’s willingness to fight to win. In the last 6 years, Trump was able connect with millions who hated politics and never voted before.
