President Volodymyr Zelensky met the two countries' leaders in Paris on Wednesday evening, where they pledged ongoing support to Ukraine.
France's Emmanuel Macron and Germany's Olaf Scholz restated their belief that Russia must not win the war.
Mr Zelensky will make more requests for jets when he meets European Union leaders in Brussels on Thursday.
He believes the fighter jets and long-range missiles are important in addition to the Leopard 2 tanks Western nations have recently committed to supplying.
Speaking at a joint news conference on Wednesday evening with Mr Macron and Mr Scholz, Mr Zelensky said France and Germany had potential to be "game-changers" in the battle against Russia by providing Ukraine with battle tanks, modern fighter planes and long-range missiles.

Great! Let the hollywood grifter hit up France and Germany. And Britain.
And make damn sure they contribute THEIR money. Not ours.
Leave us out of Eur War, EU!
I doubt there’s an operational airfield left in Ukraine.
“How did WW I start?”
“If we only knew.”
“Two toughest kids on the block I guess, sooner or later they’re gonna fight”
“Gimme dat.”
“Gimme more stuff.”
“Gimme more money.”
yup
I hope Zelensky is the first to have a Russian nuke land on his head. He doesn’t appear to care how many of his people would die if this war goes nuclear even on a limited scale.
He probably wants the planes and then will demand NATO pilots.
“He said the supply of the jets had been discussed, and warned there was “very little time” to provide the weaponry.”
Yep. Your time is up zelensky. Boom!!!
He is desperate as are his NATO handlers. Bahkmut is about to fall. Skilled troops running out for their lives and 16 year old conscripts as well as 50+ year olds sent in as meat for the grinder. NATO needs to end as does TShirt Hitler on his roid rage. Look at the pictures. From penis piano playing to high heel dancing to this level of buff. Give me a break. Look at the face. Makes Barry Bond’s transformation seem slight. He is so steroided it isn’t even funny and the powers that be are in control of his roid rage.
Can you blame him though? The West has thus far been afraid to tell him ‘no,’ why wouldn’t he naturally keep asking and raising his requests?
Until a major NATO country firmly tells Zelenskyy “no, not happening” and doesn’t break from the inevitable “you hate democracy/side with Russia” subsequent onslaught, he’ll keep trying to turn the inches into miles.
Good post.
Yes, it’s a totally disgusting and horrible situation.
I hope people are helping and hiding the ones who have gone AWOL.
I blame the panhandler and the ones who encourage continued panhandling.
I pray the Wagner Orcs show mercy on the conscripts. They are the innocent thrown into the pits of hell. May Gods grace be shown by these men to the poor people facing them. Russians are brutal. I pray Prigozhin has them on a short leash and just uses these poor people for a bit of propaganda and then sends them on a vacation.
Zelensky keeps demanding and he has Biden and others over a barrel with blackmail dirt he can prove about their crimes and corruption.
A nuclear WW3 is headed our way. Everyone have their iodine pills ready?
What’s he doing with the game-changers? Well, him, personally, nothing.
But the Ukrainian military has used them to push back the Russian invaders east of Kharkiv and out of Kherson.
Those did change the game from Ukraine slowly pushing Putin’s army to a stalemate to the case where they could push back Putin’s army further.
However now that there is another stalemate across the Dnipro, these weapons can push back
“How did WW1 start”?
After spending a decade or so pondering this (ever since I moved to Poland), here’s my opinion of why the 1914 to 1918 war started.
But first two background points:
1. Firstly - another European war was inevitable - the previous two “world wars” were started in Europe: the 1700s 7 years war (fought in the Americas, Europe and Asia), the Napoleonic wars (fought in Europe, Africa, Asia and if you consider Haiti, then the Americas)
2. Secondly, a European war would be a world war due to colonies. That is no longer the case (but that’s a different topic)
Now the “why”?
1. WWI had its roots in the previous world war (Napoleonic) or specifically in the French revolution and THE RISE OF NATIONALISM determining politics. The previous wars were wars of kings, so the common man didn’t care too much generally (I’m generalizing). But the French revolution said “hey, you buddy from Picardie are French, now take this rifle and fight for the glory of France”
2. The spread of ethno-centricism, starting from France (France in the 1800s to 1820s destroyed local languages and cultures), to the UK (with the emerging Anglocentricism wiping out Cornish, attacking Welsh, Scottish and also other English dialects like yorkish etc.) , then to Germany and Russia from the 1870s onwards (they forced Germanization and Russification on the lands ruled by their emperors)
3. The “awakening of nations” - people in Galicia, in Moldavia, etc. got up and said “hey, I’m Polish/Romanian/Bulgarian etc. etc.”
4. The rise of “we are X people and this is our land exclusively”
5. Industrialization
6. The scramble for Africa with the net results that there were no more lands outside Europe for European powers to fight over
7. the inferiority complex of Wilhelm the IInd — he had a withered arm and felt ashamed - also felt that he should be more respected than his cousins - King-Emperor George V (King of the UK, Emperor of India) and Tsar Nicholas II (Tsar of all the Russias)
8. Russian obsession with the West Slavs (Poles and Czechs) as they were a socio-cultural threat to the autocracy of the Tsardom (with their history of democracy) v/s their focus to the south (against Turks and Turkic peoples), the latter of whom they fought and won against easily from the 1780s to 1910s
9. French inferiority complex after the 1870 Franco-Prussian war in which the previous superpower (which France was from the late Middle ages until Waterloo) was humiliated by the upstart newcomer
