Those Abandoning Blue States Should Abandon Democrats, Too: The Blue State Exodus is in full swing. But will voters' habits change?

A recent New York Post article declared that, in a "staggering exodus," in 2022, more residents of New York moved to Florida "than any other year in history."  The article reveals,

A staggering 64,577 Empire Staters exchanged their driver's licenses for the Sunshine State version last year, according to figures from the Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles.

"They come in every day," a staffer at a Jacksonville DMV office told The Post this week with a weary laugh. "I hear all the complaints. I feel like a therapist sometimes."

The transfer of a driver's license from one state to another is considered a reliable metric for relocation, since such a decision suggests the move is a lasting one.  The 2022 exodus from New York to Florida is a 39% increase from 2019 — the last pre-pandemic year — and an astounding 46% increase from 2017.  New York is far from alone in the exodus that is plaguing America's blue states.

CBS News also recently reported on "the states Americans are moving to — and the states they are ditching."  According to the article,

[t]he states that attracted the most new residents in 2022 are Florida, Texas, North Carolina and South Carolina, followed by other states in the South and West…

Florida was the biggest net gainer last year, with about 319,000 people migrating into the state, the NAR analysis found. California lost the most residents, with 343,000 leaving the state for other regions.

The map below, using data from the National Association of Realtors, shows the "net migration by population change" for each of the 50 U.S. states.  As indicated on the scale at the top of the map, blue indicates a net increase, while red indicates a net decrease.

The bluer states gained the most residents through state-to-state migration, while the redder states lost the most residents.   (Unlike the image below, the map on the CBS News link above is interactive, so that placing your cursor over each state shows the exact number for that state.)

As the map clearly shows, and quite unsurprising to those paying attention, liberal states — those run by Democrats — dominate the states with a net loss in population migration, while conservative states — those run by Republicans — dominate the states with a net increase in population migration.

Rats abandoning the sinking ship of California have turned multiple states “purple” - Arizona, Colorado, and are working on Texas.

They leave high taxes and crime and then VOTE FOR MORE OF IT when they get to the new state.

Stuck on stupid.

There was a highway sign in Florida that read,
Welcome New Yorkers and Californians
Please remember
You are refugees
Not missionaries.

“64,577 Empire Staters exchanged their driver’s licenses for the Sunshine State version last year”

For as messed up politically as NY is, and as bad is the weather is, 64k actually seems low. It is just 0.3% of the NY population.

At least sometimes. I’m still in CA where my vote makes absolutely no difference. We bought a retirement place in Idaho where it also makes no difference today because it is solidly conservative (with cracks showing in the dam, unfortunately).

They should, but they don’t. Here in Rural Virginia, libs move out of the cities to avoid the high taxes but come out here and expect the same standard of infrastructure. They scream for trash pick up. Then, they try to make the schools teach the same garbage as the ones they fled. They take offense and sue over any slight.
As one local put it, ‘I wish I could afford to send HALF the liberals back to Europe where they came from, originally. The, I would send them all back, HALFWAY!’

Let me try to get ahead of the whining from the Surrender Monkey Caucus: In the last four years Florida has seen 1 million new voters. Of the ONE MILLION new voters just SEVENTEEN THOUSAND yes 17,000 registered as Democrats.
Of course Florida is a very special place, but clearly the escapees are running from rodent policies and going wherever they can that is still free.

If anything near like this happens in other free states the effect will be unmistakable.

This is dreaming. Liberals don’t understand cause and effect.
They’re like locusts eating everything until it’s gone, then they move on.

THIS!

A plague of locusts.

They voted Detroit to what it is today.

They DO NOT LEARN. Ever. Ideology over reality.

Consider this enemy psyops. The liberal voters are the urban natives who turn more liberal as the state gets the same urban problems as the states conservatives are fleeing. Typically, the incoming residents are a LOT more likely to be Republican than the the incumbent residents, especially when you adjust for demographics. (For instance, incoming Hispanic citizens are far more conservative than the existing Hispanic citizens, although the same is far from true when talking about illegal aliens.)

They won’t do it. Look at the crap, south of the border invaders. Running away from their crapholes and their socialism, claiming they need asylum in the U.S. and nowhere else, and then voting for socialist fascists in this country. The crap coming across our borders is pretty much just pieces of meat with two eyes.

(There are a few exceptions: Colorado, Nevada, Maine. But these are states which don’t have vastly conservative reputations which keep liberals scared of them.)

VERY telling as I study that map to see how Minnesota is depopulating. It argues against the notion that people are moving to where the jobs are. (Note also that the open jobs are STILL typically in conservative states, DESPITE all the people moving into the states to take them.)

Also interesting to see that Virginia is now fully like the urban northeast. During its Republican years it was a huge population gainer. Maybe the new Republican governor can turn the ship around (although with liberals in the legislature, that will be harder than it was.)

Allow me to point out that this number is only those relocating to Florida and does not include those moving to other states.
