Tina Kotek appoints police lieutenant who fatally shot Malheur occupation leader as head of Oregon State Police

The top job at Oregon State Police has gone to Casey Codding, one of two state police troopers who fatally shot a leader of the armed Malheur National Wildlife Refuge occupation in January 2016, Gov. Tina Kotek announced Monday.

Codding, a 27-year veteran of Oregon State Police, shot Robert ‘LaVoy’ Finicum in the back after Finicum sped his truck toward a roadblock of state SWAT police and FBI agents. State police withheld the names of the two officers who fired at Finicum, but a witness let Codding’s name slip during subsequent court hearings about the shooting.

Now superintendent, Codding started as a cadet. He was promoted from lieutenant to captain after the shooting, and then rose to deputy superintendent.

“Through all of his roles, Codding held true to OSP’s mission and values to serve all people and our communities, property, and natural resources,” Kotek’s statement said.

Her office did not immediately respond to a question from The Oregonian/OregonLive about Codding’s involvement in the Malheur shooting and how it factored into her hiring decision.

Finicum, an Arizona rancher, was the spokesperson for the occupation at the wildlife refuge in southeastern Oregon that began Jan. 2, 2016.

Research Bundy Ranch, LaVoy Finicum, Malheur Wildlife Refuge, etc. There’s a lot involved for me to spend here running down the whole situation. Hopefully you’ve heard about Bundy Ranch and attempts by the Feds/BLM to remove Bundy’s cattle from their BLM grazing land. BLM (in this case, Bureau of Land Management) was met with resistance by patriots from around the Country. After BLM was pushed out, Bundy’s son and Finicum, along with a core group of others, took over the national refuge to send a message that patriots were standing up to tyranny. The ambush of Finicum (Bundy’s son was also present) happened on a stretch of road the FBI had setup on, after finding out that members of the group were going to a nearby town to speak with the public and police. The Feds ambushed on this stretch and this is where Finicum was murdered. Go. Read. Research.

Typical democrat communist thug double down

Not much point having power if you don't rub it in the opposition's face.

Your BS is exactly why there will never be any serious patriot movement in America. When someone does stand, y’all peaceful slavery advocates get all out of whack. Go from us in peace. We need not your council or arms. May your chains rest lightly, and may posterity forget you were a countryman.

FReepers who thought these protesters could do no wrong.

Apparently you like the taste of boot leather. Keep licking. It really is a shame what has become of FR recently. Just sad. I remember when this was a patriot forum.

Lavoy Finicum was pretty much set up and assassinated. Research the entire story and decide for yourself.

Sure

Only by hunkering down in the vehicle did those 2 not die.

The feds left him to die in the snow.

Now, the back shooter gets his reward. Again

Wyden wanted Malheur to go away. Brown complied, but Finicum had gotten permission to speak to a group about ranchers’ rights and land use in a time of encroachment.

Why was such a nobody involved such a silly action seen to merit such a conspiracy? That in itself is a damming commentary on the FBI. He was just a crackpot not John Dillinger.

Wyden wanted Malheur to go away

Ar last a real motivation is uncovered. A poweftul politico is being ‘embarrassed’. Wyden or his chief of staff expresses his ‘outrage’ to the state cops and the FBI and Finicum is a dead duck.

This was the rehearsal for January 6th the protest at the wildlife refuge drawing at least 15 FBI informants.

The other vehicle they were stopping on this “felony traffic stop” had an FBI informant driver Mark McConnell involved.

Felony Traffic Stop was what they called this trouble is when everyone arrested went on trial for felonies all were found innocent.

The authorities call this incident that led to LaVoy Finicum’s murder a “Felony Traffic Stop” giving them the license to kill.

Of course those who lived and were arrested were put on trial for felonies and all were found not guilty by the jury.

“because they believed”

We don’t know what the officers were thinking or why. We just have a blurry video. Did the officers know he had or didn’t have a weapon or did they not know? Second guessing something like this is a crap shoot.

You are right.
I think, actually, it was the FBI that shot into the truck, before he got out.
