Activists are upset that the Bruce family, which received oceanfront property last year that was unjustly taken from its forebears by the government, has now sold it back to Los Angeles County for $20 million.
As Breitbart News reported in 2021, the story of the Bruce family was a compelling case for restitution:
The owners, Willa and Charles Bruce, purchased the land in 1912 and created a beach resort catering to black clients before the city used eminent domain to seize the property.
The land was dormant for decades until the city built a park in 1960 and later renamed it Bruce’s Beach. Descendants of Willa and Charles Bruce sued, claiming the eminent domain program was racially motivated.

They healed quickly.
What, you can’t do what you want with your own property?
Besides, oceanfront? That will all be underwater in 10 years. Smart move!
are the activists upset that they didnt get a taste?
before the city used eminent domain to seize the property. RACIST LA
The family exploited a government that was ripe for exploitation.
That is not hard to understand. Most people can resist anything but temptation.
Good for the Bruces.
My leftist aunt in California is now alone, old in Declining heath and poor.
She lives in a tiny rented home in a protected elderly community in the Central Valley. She suffers from high taxes, fear of crime, hates the homeless everywhere, high rents and food costs —all of the results of leftist policies (or most).
Yet she still think Newsome is awesome and is a firm Bernie supporter. She will literally never learn.
“The Bruce family owned lots 8 and 9—the current site of the L.A. County Lifeguard Administration Building—on Block 5.”

I wonder what the 2022(?) tax assessment was.
And I'm betting there was a good reason for seizing it...and nothing to do with "black".
Leftists have no sense of reality. The real estate taxes on such a parcel of land would be huge. The state and city would use all their muscle to prevent any development of ‘coastal lands’. So the Bruce’s did the commonsense thing that served their interest and the interest of the city. Leftist want every action dealing with the public to be a perpetual feel good virtue signal event. They may be ‘educated’ but are profoundly ignorant.
Now those family members are super rich. Take the money and run! Winning the ghetto lottery

It is somewhat elevated:

Did they sell the mule along with the land?
>>are the activists upset that they didnt get a taste?<<
Exactly!
It was a land steal by the government. I am not for reparations but this was a clear legal case and the government justifiably lost.
Show me pics of the great resort they had built...then talk to me.
I assume those posts are docks...
“I’m betting they did so as to make sure it didn’t turn into a new black neighborhood.”
That sounds racist.
In reality, blacks that could afford a chuck of a property worth millions probably aren’t ghetto material.
Lollllzzzz abound with guilt ridden idiot whites “serving” in California Gubbermints. Falling all over themselves to pay out reparations with other people’s money. Tax money, of course. White liberals are stingy turds and would never spend their own money on reparations. OK...maybe they would kick in 10 or 20 dollars>>>>
“California and some local governments — including the City of San (San Fran Sicko) Francisco — are currently debating reparations for slavery, even though California was not a slave state and entered the U.S. as a free state in 1850.”
